Ok, so I have a sunroof rattle (who doesn't), and am looking for ideas to fix it. This is not the typical wind deflector one, though I have had that too, so first I'll start with how I fixed that.
Typical wind deflector one is when this stupid piece pops out of the runner and you get a pretty constant clanking right over your head. I tried epoxying them together as others had done, but it ended up letting go after a couple of days and the problem was back. The second time I ripped it all open I didn't want to have to again so once I re-epoxied them and popped the deflector post into place, I used two tiny zip ties on each side to loop through as illustrated below. This holds the deflector, clip and runner all together as one piece. It still has all the clearance it needs to operate correctly and I've had no issues for the past couple weeks while using it as frequently as possible. Pretty confident that shit isn't going anywhere.

Now, my remaining rattle is all the way at the back of the sunroof frame on the passenger side, just above where the roof handle is. From peeking in the opening with the glass and deflector removed it seems like it's between the frame and what it mounts to back there. I tried fixing it with a "let's see if this does it/maybe I can forget about it forever" fix by stuffing a sponge in there, but no luck.
My question is, has anyone else had this rattle (I can only find the typical one with search) and if so, were you able to resolve it without dropping the headliner? Given this is an avant, would dropping the headliner be a reasonable task or would it be faster to just kill myself?
At this point it's the only remaining rattle in my car and it has to die. Any help is appreciated.
