Best Bang for the Buck Rotors & Pads

I can get some Stoptech sport slotted rotors 288 rear 320 front for $325 shipped along with Hawk HPS for another ~ $150 . Total comes out to $475. Are there any other alternatives that can provide the same or better value at a better price?

Akebono pads, or the Stoptech/Centric pads are good too, might be a bit cheaper, closer to $100 for the set.

as for the rotors, the best bang for your buck would be to get normal rotors (not slotted or drilled). they do look better but they also they eat through the brake pads much quicker.

I usually go for the Centric high carbon discs and posi-quiet pads. Also you can find several threads that discuss this with some searching

I agree... I think our stock rotors are actually quite good so slotted and cross drilled actually reduces surface area and does eat pads quicker. They do look good, but the cross-drilled/slotted stuff is only for hard core racing where they need quicker cooling to prevent brake fade and use very large size rotors to compensate for the lost surface area.

Got a full set of slotted cross drilled rotors with pads all around last winter for a little under $400 from rock auto.

Ill probably go with the high carbon blanks from centric and with a higher performing pad like hawk hps. Thanks for the input everyone.

How is the dust on the posi-quiet pad?

if you're tracking the car or want it for the looks, if you don't mind less long term reliability and lasting, then go for the slotted/drilled. but for a normal daily driver, and you want the rotors and pads lasting as long as possible, go for the normal setup. i went through the same dilemma, i really liked the drilled/slotted look but in the end figured it wasn't worth it just for the looks i'd rather just have reliable and longer lasting brakes and not have to do another brake job that early.

Dust isn't bad at all on the ceramics I have. On the normal ones, they dust less than OEM but it is noticeable.
