B5 Carbon fiber?

So i recently got a job making carbon fiber, and i was thinking about making some CF fenders for B5s using the facelifted fenders, Not only that but interior trim made from CF, I was just wanting to know what the market is here for that sorta stuff, The A4 b5 forum asked for several things and im just wanting some opinions before i commit to molds. who would want CF fenders? "I like getting a feeling for the number of people wanting to buy the items before i commit, The fenders will be made to High endurance/light weight, for those who were wondering 12k Twill, Double layered in separate directions to make it as strong as possible.

Would the fenders be 100% OEM in proportions, or would wider or increased flare fenders be an option? Just tossing ideas around...

Also, very cool stuff, and thanks for sharing. I would be interested in following your process from idea to finished production product. Observing talented people use their skills always fascinates me.

There was a company that used to make CF fenders however stopped and I would assume due to price point and people not really buying them. Our fenders tend to be light overall. If you can do trunk and hood I believe you may have a market. After o-carbon went to shit I don't believe there is anyone else doing interior CF trim.

If you do decide to make CF fenders, make a mold from b5 rs4 widebody fenders, not s4

If you make CF engine covers, I think you would see decent sales on them. Make a batch of 20 and I bet you sell all of them @ $250 a pop.

I am partial because I have an avant, but a carbon hatch wing would be cool.

I think engine covers make the most sense due to the multiple cars that use the 2.7t power plant and those should be straightforward. Everyone wants 300+ for carbon rs4 covers so if you can come in anywhere under that price point you could be competitive.

I like hoods. For the B6 I feel the CF hoods don't look all that great. I really like how the B7 hoods look.

This would be a good idea as their is a larger cross-platform market for them. If there is enough profit in them, it could help offset/keep the costs lower on some of the smaller batch niche items too

I would be interested to see trim parts as im currently working on putting mine back together haha. Trunks might be a hard one to make but would proboly sell decent depending on price. Or carbon fiber mirror housings if thats possiable.

I can make copies of existing pieces so that if theres a design flaw i cannot be blamed for it, but every idea is looked into! :)

Engine covers are something i can do but i would need the original to replicate u will recieve both your original and the new back withing 3 weeks, after the carbon has had time to cure :)

buy some oem rs4 fenders to copy and you'll kill it with a decent mark up and you can sell the fenders after molds

Alright guys and gals, ill be making a run of wrapped and fabricated trim pieces as a test when i get time from work "they wont let me leave!" Lol anyways i believe wrapping the oem pieces for trim would be the best option since its the look not the weight reduction people want so see you soon!

Ok got a few trim pieces wrapped really didnt look much different than if i made a mold and such, the only issue i found was getting them to shine, after some sanding and buffing they turned out quite nice,only made 2 due to time restrictions. I did however get my work area ready to mass trim pieces and dash/shifter surrounds if interested shoot me an email at [email protected] normal trim pieces wrapped start at 150 and go up depending on if u want surrounds or such wrapped, knocking off a few $ here and there to keep costs down for u guys :) thanks for reading and possibly being a future customer!

you could be sued even if it's an exact replica. Form a corporation, don't be guilty of negligence or one of the other conditions that permits 'piercing the veil', and you should be okay (this is not legal advice just dillusional ramblings).

Edit: omitted specific example as a courtesy to the company that deserves none -- ongoing safety concern I'm trying not to sue somebody over

U will get them back i use a low heat mold kit that wont harm the originals ill send them with a carbon set with a big THANK YOU lol

IM DEFINITELY FOLLOWING THIS!!! I have a set of oem rs4 engine covers...oem carbon fiber...idk if it would make a better replica.....definitely in for hood be nice to have some vents in it as well...damn engine heats up the entire neighborhood hahaha...id also like to see some fenders...much like getslideways...I would like to see finished products and processes
