Headgaskets. OEM vs. Elring. Any preference?

Or is Elring an OEM supplier and they're actually the same gasket? If they're not, are there any noticeable quality differences?

Elring is equivalent to OEM. OEM gaskets are from several suppliers. Learn more about Elring head gasket quality at http://www.elring.de/

What about Victor Reinz? I know the E30 community seems to think they're junk (although I've installed several without issues), but I didn't know if anyone here had ever had any bad experiences with them. I'm about to order my head gasket set, and AutohausAZ has a really good price on the VR set.

I always thought reinz and elring are roughly equivalent and both OEM suppliers. I kinda prefer reinz, though.

Whenit comes to something as important and a pain in the ass to change as a head gasket, dont be worried about the cost.

    All Over!

I've been using Victor Reinz since the mid 1980's, and I've never had any issues with them.

Victor Reinz are OEM gasket suppliers for VAG, and quite a few other Euro vehicle manufacturers.

That being said. I had both a Victor reinz and audi Headgasket in my hands, and they were not the same.

    This is a insane conversation.
Get the OEM gasket from Audi.
It's cheap insurance, for a not fun job.
