Different Tyre Width Front and Back?

So i need new tyres for my rears, right now ive got 265/30/20 all around. Im looking for 275 for the back. Would there be any problems doing this? I know quattro doesnt like staggered wheels but the wheels are still the same just the width will be 10mm more

So your slightly stretching the rears, or just getting wider rear set altogether? Either way i think you'd be ok. Its very minor difference. I think it may look funny square front and stretch rears, but thats my opinion.

Quattro doesn't like it but you should be fine. However, this car tends to have more understeer what you are doing is making it worse. If I were you I'd keep your current setup or even put fatter ones in the front and put spacers for rear wheels.

Why do you want to go 10mm wider on the rear tire, aesthetics? At 10mm you won't see a visible difference unless you're pretty close up so asthetically there won't be much in it.
As mentioned earlier, the car is prone to under steer so increasing rear grip will make it feel like the onset of under steer comes sooner.

I'd personally keep it the same, and put the dollars you've saved towards a nice set of spacers.

Thanks for the replies. the wheels I have on are the rs4 7 spoke wheels,in pretty sure there made for 275 so it won't stretch it, and no it isn't for aesthetic purposes , it's just cheaper and easier to find a tyre in 275 30 20 than 265 30 20, yeah I wish I could put spacers but they are illegal where I'm from :(.

With different widths you won't be able to rotate tires rear to front. Not sure if having to replace tires at different intervals will offset cost savings of 275 vs 265. Or maybe eventually move to 275 all around?

Yeah I might just wait till the fronts wear out abit and replace the whole set, if you push it right the car will oversteer nicely with these almost bald rear tyres haha

Don't go staggered on Quattro. Yeah you exasperate the B8 chassis tendency to understate and disallow rotation, but more importantly you risk damaging the center differential. Technically at issue is the rolling diameter of the tires which all need to be within a certain percentage of each other (2% maybe). Any more than or less and you risk an expensive repair.

You could always purchase new ones and have the taller tires shaved as necessary. It's a common practice for racers but could apply here to get the tires within tolerance. Personally, keep them all the same....
