How to tow with just the front wheels off the ground?

If I tow with a wrecker instead of a rollback, how hard is it to disconnect the rear driveshaft? I could lift the back end to get access with the wheel lift.

A cheap tow could cost a ton of money in repairs. Flat bed only.

I like how "disconnect the rear drive shaft" sounds like a viable option in your post. It's not. Get a flatbed.

Disconnecting the driveshaft is not worth the hassle. Not sure of your situation, but U Haul has auto transport trailers (flatbed) for $40 or $50 per day.

A wrecker should have dollies that "wrap" around the rear wheels and jack them up off the ground.

If you're ever calling for a tow, just make sure you let them know you have an AWD car. They'll send out a flatbed cause tow truck drivers typically don't enjoy rigging up those dollies.

Don't have a tow vehicle with a hitch. So disconnecting the driveshaft is more than removing a few bolts at the rear and sliding it off?

You have your own wrecker but don't know how to properly tow an AWD vehicle?

That thing is not loaded correctly, weight should be centered over the axles. Those straps look small too.

I rather have the tie downs firm in the front with minimal play.. But I towed that car over 10 times for over 150 miles each trip no problems

I would educate yourself some more on trailer towing. Heres a start,

    1. Use proper loading techniques.

If you are loading a trailer with a vehicle or materials, proper balance is critical. You don’t want the heaviest items all the way at the front or all the way at the back of the trailer. Most trailers are designed to support the weight of the item(s) over the center of the trailer. Loading a trailer too heavy at the front results in too much tongue weight, unloading the front tires, making the tow vehicle hard to control. Overloading the rear of the trailer has the opposite effect, unloading the rear tires, which again makes the tow vehicle hard to control. When hauling vehicles, the front of the vehicle is usually the heaviest, so cars should be loaded front first on the trailer. Sometimes you simply can’t avoid loading a car backwards, if you do this, make sure that the rear of the car is as far forward as possible, putting the heavy load over the trailer tires.

Get a flatbed. Don't cheap out, because you'll end up paying for damages if you don't go the flatbed route.
