Yea definately get a dipstick, also depending how many miles you could just have a bad oil level sensor (another good reason to get a dipstick so u can diagnose)

I just checked my oil level. I have the 3G+ MMI interface (no dipstick). The level was below minimum but the warning light didn't come on! Usually the MMI interface says "Oil Level OK", it did not say that anymore. Why didn't it warn me it was low?!? Anyway I added oil and from what I can gather the difference between "min" and "max" is 1 quart. However I added the oil in small increments as to not over-fill it.

Is there a recommended level? Any reason not to run it at near the max level?

I bought the oil from the dealer, it was Castrol Professional OE 5w-40.

Are you aware of the "Oil consumption lawsuit"? If not, type that into your browser's search bar and will find out a lot of details.
Also check out this thread: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...1#post11902613
Go to an Audi dealer and tell them you have the Oil consumption problem. This is a big job (upwards of $6k) and it is covered by Audi Canada. I just had a complete pistons job because of the same issue (i'm in Canada too).

    Good luck!
