    A4 MMI not working

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Good evening,
I recently had my battery die. I jumped the vehicle and inadvertently placed the cabled incorrectly for about 5 or 6 seconds, just enough to get a little bit of smoke to tell me there was something wrong. The car started and no codes came on so i thought i was in the clear. I drove to the house without the MMI and remembered, the last time the battery died, the MMI would not come on until the battery charged some. I had the battery replaced, thankfully under interstate warranty, and the MMI still does not come on. NO lights, No flicker, no nothing. The odd thing though, is the Bluetooth still connects to my phone, so i know something is working. I just cant hear anything cause nothing seems to function.

    2010 audi a4 base model M/T

Any help would be appreciated. I would like to ask the responses stay mature, for i was honest in my post to get honest feedback. I know I was a moron for mismatching the terminals, in my defense it was dark, but that is no excuse. I just need some advice on what i can do since it has not returned since the jump start.

    Thanks in advance.
    Mike

Did you start with checking the fuses ?

if OK then you need to connect a vag com or the like to see if the module is on line and communicating

Yes fuses are good, checked the only 2 I saw in book. One in front passenger 20a and one in trunk 7.5 amp. Both good. I will see if I can get ahold of a vag com and report back. I haven't tried the reset the people speak about. I have the AMI (base model Audi concert) there's no select button unless you refer to the center wheel pressing down as select. If so, what's the sequence?

It may be the same issue, check last post, you need vcds do remove this mode, if i remember correctly:

and there is separate fuse behind unit(blue):

AMI is located in glovebox! Your bt works as with concert it uses separate circut, not like with mmi where is part of optical ring!

You may have an issue with the screen itself. In my 2009 A4 the display went dark and basically the backlight went......which I was told is very common with these screens. Had it replaced....but if you do need a new screen make sure to shop around because the dealership will charge $600-800 for just the screen......you can get them much cheaper online. I had a local guy who specializes in Audi dash assemblies install it.....he didn't charge me anything...but gave him a gift card...

I am getting nothing on the screen and nothing on the AMI (the knobs, car / media / phone button lights) so i think its a power issue. Bluetooth is working, as it connects to my phone it just doesn't transmit through speakers via lack of the radio functionality. I DID forget the probable fuse behind the unit, i don't have any keys for the car but i will either order some or see if a friend has some. Cross your fingers its just that fuse back there. Thanks for your help so far. Will report back later.
