Hey guys, I just received my copy of Performance Audi and just read that MRC is putting a C7 4.0tt into a B8 RS4. Has anyone seen or heard any more about this? It sounds like an awesome conversion, I was wondering about engine fitment and gearbox.....makes one wonder....
    A fair amount of euros.....

I really do need to get my act together and get my car into MRC for their stage 2 treatment.

What gearbox would you use? Would you convert it into a 6sp using an O1E?

In the article, they have the motor test fitted, I am so curious about this. A 4.0tt with custom turbos like PTE 5858s would be insane in a B8 platform.

I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes a common swap some day. We've seen with a lot of the older Audi platforms that most/many of Audi's engines are basically interchangeable with little or no modification required as far as mounting and (manual) transmission compatibility is concerned.

Not bad on engine weight differential.

Hardware is never an issue with many swaps but the software is the problem. These cars are no longer analog and simplex algorithms, they are way to integrated. Unless you can convince Syvecs ECU for plug & play... Not sure if S4 ECU can run a TT4.0 or S6 ECU compatible to run in S4 is the questions of the day?

What if you were to run a 4.0t engine, transmission, ecu and trans ecu? I believe Syvecs?? makes a standalone for the cl65 amg....using an auto. Isn't the transmission used in the 4.0t a standard auto transmission not dsg? Just thinking out of the box.

Not sure if this is compatible with S4 but Syvecs is not cheap.

    It's actually less of a differential. Remember that they're putting the 4.0T into a RS4 which come with the 4.2 V8. The 4.2 V8 is 467 lbs in the RS4/5 so that's only a 16 lbs difference.

They also performed some mods. Article states that it makes 750chp and 1150nm of torque and the B8 RS4 chassis is 400 lbs lighter than the RS6/RS7 platform.

I was recently at my local Audi specialist - he has been looking after my car for over a year now. He is the garage my local AD recommended to me when I had a DSG issue.

What he had there has put me off MRC - an RS3 which he was having to do a total rebuild on after the owner took it to MRC for a tune.

He said the tune was way off and detonated the engine. Not only that but they messed up the ECU so bad that he could not flash it back - he had to order a new ECU and recode the whole car.

Not sure I would take a car to MRC now.

That's the first negative comment I've ever read on any forum about MRC.

Surely if they were thst clueless and with the amount of cars they tune there would be threads all over the place ripping them to bits?

Maybe there was underlying problems with his engine and the tune tipped it over the edge

Not sure. From speaking with the person now tasked with rebuilding the car it appears MRC don't want to help the owner out. The person also says this is not the first MRC car that he has had to "fix" due to tuning issues.

I'm not at liberty to say, however I will be there in the new year and provide photos if car is still there.

Oh and I didn't say it was regular, just that it was not the first time. Could be second car? Could be 50th. They didn't specify.
