Cool Just clean my headlights (inside) yesterday

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Based on the info in this excellent forum (search in diferents post) I was able to clean my headlights inside because has like fog but inside the lights.

First, take off the headlight , 4 bolts , easy , no more than 5 minutes.

then take a look at the "damage" or dirt inside the headlight

the "tricky" part was separate the cover from the headlight, that was using a HEAT GUN carefully heat all the seal material around the head light, I bought the heat gun specially for this.

Once Warm just pull apart the cover from headlight

    then clean the cover Inside

    The Final RESULT:

Thanks to all people who make this forum and excellent tool for improve our cars!!

Nice wright up, thanks for posting it. Your lenses were a mess! Mine have dust on them, but nothing like that!

Great job, I am sure it made your headlights brighter and improved the looks of the car based on what you showed in that one pic.

I need to do this to my lights . They look very similar. I just need to get the courage to heat them to put them apart. I bought this form amazon to seal them back together (someone on the forum recommended this so I take no credit). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You should have plenty of sealant left over from pulling them apart to re-seal them.

I am pulling mine apart in a few weeks to black them out. I was planning on reusing the factory sealant.

It's not bad at all to take them apart. Just un clip the clips that hold the cover and housing together and take about 5-10 minutes going around the headlight with a heat gun. It will take some force to pry them open,
    But they will come apart.

I bought some butyl sealant from lightwerks thinking I was gonna need to re seal the new covers completely, but you'll still have enough to just stick them both on. I just added some new sealant to some corners for good measure. Haven't had any condensation build up inside the lense since I did this 3 months ago and Colorado has had a good amount of rain.

I’m very late to this party, but if anybody has any before/during/afters of later models, please do share! Considering this on the tri-projector (probably not what it’s called) headlights.
