Remote starter removed, now I have no sound from Radio

    Hi everyone,

The remote starter was removed from my 07 A4 with Audi Symphony II + yesterday. I don't know what they did but now I have no sounds. The Symphony system is acting normal (except it doesn't response when I press MODE on the steering but Volume works fine from the steering wheel). I got my hand on the audio system removal key and took some picture of the connection. I have Bose speakers. From looking at the plug, I feel like there is one missing. Can someone confirm it for me?

Thanks & have a happy holiday weekend,

The remote starter would have been installed within the immobilizer circuit which includes the stereo. By removing it you have probably severed the K line communication and therefore the immobilizer cannot communicate. Double check all circuits.

    Good morning from CT everyone,

I finally narrowed down the trouble spot a bit more late yesterday. As of now, I believe there is something wrong with the Radio head itself for the following reasons:

. Whenever I remove #39 fuse for more than 15 min, whole radio system works perfectly fine again (yes, with sound and I discovered this by accident when I had to leave for some work in middle playing around with the car and left that fuse off until when I came back). As soon as you do something that turns the radio off, the sound would go out again. The only trick to get it to work is to remove the fuse for more than 15 min. (I would assume removing the Symphony system itself more than 15 min would do the same but I will have to test it)
. The last 2 days, my car battery went out completely overnight. I have to jump start it 2 days in a row already. Last night, I decided to remove the Symphony out of the car and this morning, everything works just fine. As of now, no more draining battery (I only tested once so far)
. There is manufacture tape behind the symphony but it was ripped as if someone has taken the symphony out and open it up before.

As of now, I do hope the symphony unit is bad. It's only around 80-100 bucks on Ebay. I know there are possibilities for either the harness is being shorted somewhere within the Radio system (fuse #39) or the Bose amp going bad.

    Will keep you guys posted,

I know nobody knows what the heck I'm doing but here is some updates, hopefully, someone else later on can find this helpful.

everytime I disconnect the Bose Amp and plug it back in, I can turn on the headunit (Symphony ii+) and the sound works. The moment I turn off the headunit and turn it back on, the sound is gone. It's almost like the headunit can send the signal out to turn off the Bose amp but it just can't turn the Bose amp back on. Either that or the Bose amp just can't turn itself back on again. I went ahead and ordered another Bose amp, however, I'm still uncertain on whether the amp is busted. It shouldn't work when I disconnect and reconnect it. This part just doesn't make sense to me yet.

So there is a signal wire to the bose amp that tells it to turn on. Have you checked that pin is getting 12V when the amp turns back on?

Based on the diagram, #6 pin should be the one that turn on when radio is on right? I should get 12V reading when measuring #6 & #7 when radio On and nothing when radio is off? just wanna double check before I short anything else myself lol. #1 abd #2 should read 12V constantly?

    okay, I just checked:

    1 & 2 - Constant 12V
    2 & 6 - 12 V with Headunit on and 0 when Headunit off.

It seems that the signal line is good.

Yeah that looks good. Now I would check all the other pins. If they check out then yeah, your amp is stuffed.
