Car alarm goes off when I hand polish the car

Is there a way to disable the alarm when I do my detailing? It seems the alarm always goes off during the polish phase of the detail. Unlocking the car does not help- it will automatically lock itself after a minute.
The only thing I could think of was turn the ignition on- which worked but could drain the battery

There must be a better way?

Unlock the car, open/close the door, then put your remote in a location away from the car. When I wash mine with the key in my pocket even the hose will lock/unlock it.

Haha....wait was this a serious question? Just unlock the car and take the keys out of your pocket and put them farther away from the car.

i do exactly that- the car will lock itself and just a minute later the alarm will go off. It should be noted that I am no where near any of the car doors. The car key is resting on a shelf about 10 feet away. Just polishing the hood, not shaking the car at all, then BAM loudest siren ever- all neighbors woken and damn near heart attack

that's weird, after unlocking, if I open and close a door, it won't auto-lock... maybe I disabled that in mmi though?

Mine has never auto locked after opening a door. I bet OP kept the key in his pocket or near the car so comfort access was working.

    Wait!

The OP has mentioned the car ALARM would go off when waxing / polishing his ride while the remote is 10 feet away. I can't unlock the vehicle unless the fob is literally inches from the car. How is the "ALARM" being triggered while waxing / polishing? I've never had this issue before - can the sensitivity of the alarm be set?

so i have some more information- i went to do the final stage of waxing today. it was doing the same exact thing again. so i had to turn the ignition on again. when doing so i noticed that the DIS indicated that the hood was open when it was not. (i have had this problem in the past as well) my hypothesis is that the pressure i applied to the hood while waxing or polishing kept setting of the trigger that detects hood open/closed. really not sure though. next time will have to test when i make sure the hood indicates closed.
