    APB for BEL in AllRoad

I am sure this has been covered but a search did not bring it up.
I have a 2003 Allroad with a bad BEL motor. I also have a 2002 with a good APB motor. I assume I can take everything off the BEL (turbos, harness, accessories, etc) and bolt it to the APB. Is that accurate?

I'm curious as well, as I have a spare APB Sitting behind my toolbox that I would like to build with rods, refreshed heads and some big turbo's and drop into my 2004.

heads and block are the same, you can swap intakes turbos all accessories and it will work just fine.

I did the same thing. The swap is super easy and self explanatory. You will have to change like 3 or 4 things. The o2 sensor plugs and the knock sensor plug. Been awhile

I think the downpipe mates would be different between the BEL and APB, so you'd have to keep those with the turbos. IIRC, that's one of the major differences in the two cars, outside the immo

I think it was confirmed there are no differences in manifolds

I thought the turbo flange where it mates to the downpipe came off at different angles than APB.

That's what heard but I'm pretty sure that when I did my swap there were no differences in fact I bought a pair of piggies to use and put them next to my dp. They are the same. I have a pic if you want

Not all BEL motors has different style turbos, a lot of them do some don't. The exhaust manifolds are the same, the turbos are different.

Factory 6 spd BEL turbos have the same turbo exhaust flange as APB. So 02 and knock sensor plugs, valve covers and intake manifold changes are the list of things to change from what I have read so far.

APB has ignition module, BEL doesn't, coils will have to swapped. APB ECU has Motronic 7.1 software, BEL has 7.1.1, ECU will have to be swapped, but I don't know if you'll have to swap the entire harness as well. As mentioned above, different turbos/dp's.

That's as much as I know.

It's super easy either way. Worst case you have to change the o2 sensors and dp
