Powerflex BLACK upper control arm bushing review

So i finally pulled the trigger on these bushings, i got them from ECS and it only took 4 days to get them to my door.

On initial inspection they looked great and were nice and hard. No give what so ever, which is what im looking for obviously.

I bought a set of new control arm on ebay, it was like $30 for all 4, i didnt care what quality they are since i was gonna press out those bushings anyway.

Pressing the original bushings out was easy, i actually used a 36mm oil filter socket that fit perfect in the bore and pressed the bushings out very easily.
Pressing the new ones in were a little more tricky. 3 went in fairly easily, only 1 gave me trouble and i actually pinched off a little of the mushroom hat edge, but it doesnt affect anything.

It took me 80 minutes to install the new arms. Both of my pinch bolts flew right out with no issues so i got lucky.

    New arms in

I only took the car out for a quick spin once i finished up with everything at work.

First impressions are good. Its nice and firm, you can feel it even just going over bumps. The slack i had turning left before (compared to instant right turns) is now gone, so im happy with that. I will report back after a few days for more feedback.

But overall im very happy and the front end is nice and tight.

Disclosure, my old bushings were toast

PowerFlex bushings include a pack of grease.

Interesting the 034 ones do not. I wonder if I should be adding some?

What is the benefit of the grease if they are closed joints?

I used liquid moly copper anti seize. Copper is recommended by powerflex for poly bushings.

    It keeps them from squeaking

I havent been doing as much driving as id like to give an in depth review.

But so far, i can feel the road more, which is good. Theres more feedback from my inputs but its not in any way bothersome or harsh.

Turn in has sharpened, i almost turned off the road doing my favorite on ramp as 50mph (its a pretty tight one) so i have to keep this in mind as its nice and responsive.

So far no real downsides and i love them.

I plan on doing the same to the lowers but its a lot more expensive so itll be a while. I found out that superpro actually makes a bushing for the shock fork, so that coupled with both inner powerflex black you can get all three lowers in poly.

Always wondered how a firmer bushing swap would play out. Sounds good. Superpro eh? Interesting.

I’m also replacing my LCA bushing. Presently the LCAs have aluminum outer sleeves on the original bushings.
Do I re-use or replace these sleeves?
Do the power flex bushings come with the sleeves?
    Thanks

I’ve confirmed with Powerflex USA, that the complete OEM bushing should be removed. The Powerflex solution does not require the use of the outer sleeve...their solution does not require it.
