DA was 2500 (pretty hot in Texas) APR TCU tune short shifted but overall I am pretty happy with result. Two other S4's running. One dual pulley EPL E85 w/ Test Pipes and one APR stage 2 with test pipes. Im running EPL Stage 2 E85.

If you notice my RT was horrible because car wouldnt go into LC lol. Had another S4 guy who also has APR TCU and he had issues with mine as well. He is a B8 though. Wonder if the issue I have is a B8.5 thing.

Did you log your IATs? I like to get there, park, get some food, talk to folks, watch some racing...and let 60-90 minutes go by. When I get back in, my IATs are in the mid 30s. Perfect.

We waited probably 40mins... SC was HOT even after that. Ambient was 87 and humid... So it is what it is.

The right lane is Dual Pulley... His two runs were 11.9 and 11.8.... My two runs were 12.3 and 12.5, the Stage 2 APR car had a 12.9 and 13.1.

    Those are some nasty conditions.

I can't believe how slowly the APR stage 2 car ran. Those are basically stock numbers.

That dual pulley car is hauling. It's been in the 2500ft Da's here in Ohio up until this week so I haven't bothered to go.

Was the APR car on E85 also? Race or pump?

Now you have me wanting to go out and try launch control on my car. I haven't tried it since I got the TCU tune.

    What RPM were you launching?

    Hello,

Interresting results showing that E85 holds on verry well during adverse conditions, over normal gas (was APR stg 2 pump file ? )
I am a bit astonished also about these Stg2 w test pipes results...

Could you also tell the 3 cooling setups on those 3 cars as well ?

    Thanks !

I've been out of town for what feels like forever. I haven't run in those kind of conditions this year (made some passes last year though...). I'm seriously considering a new car, so I'm not sure if I'll make more passes before I bail. I'd like to make it out one more time, but not sure if I'll have time....

Surprised the DA wasn't higher if it was 87 and so humid. Honestly, that seems, OK I guess? Would have expected a bit more MPH. I ran a 12.7 @110.7mph on EPL 93 stage 1 with a splash of 104 at San Antonio. DA was 3500. Def not trying to rain on your parade, just interesting.

Not sure why you would think I would feel bad... These are canned tunes and we are running the same software. I was stage 1 just like u at one point and can tell u the power difference on my car now vs stage 1 is considerable (as it should be I guess). Comparing different track numbers doesnt really say anything in my book. DA's off a website dont really mean much either. I prefer going off of ambient temp

Nice run Grump for those conditions.

When I 1st got my TCU tune I had trouble with launch control at the track also. It was my fault though. I was so far back in line the I would shut the car off and restart it to keep from idling too long until I was up. I had it in S1/Dynamic then would disable TC. Not go. Sounded just like your launch, like I was brake torquing. If I started car, switched to dynamic (if not already in it), disabled TC then put it in S1 all was well. I think I started the car in neutral once and tried to enable LC and no go. I've got it working well now. I've also noticed launching at 3500rpm the car tends to spin more as the clutches engage much quicker, almost like dumping. Launching from 4k+ it's more a slip dump feeling and gets me in the 1.6x 60ft range.

Your 1/8 mile mph and the 1/4mph seem to point to some heat soak on the back half. You have a HE? Since my TCU tune my back half is higher in proportion to my 1/8th. I'll trap 88mph in the 1/8th but trap 114-115mph by the 1/4. This in a hot 1700+ DA. 1st and 2nd are a bit soft with power really picking up in 3rd and 4th. How did your car feel on the back half?

So its important to switch to dynamic/Sport before turning off the ESC??? Maybe thats my issue?? I was doing it the other way around

Although my buddy drove my car and had the same issue and he does LC for a living in his car. Lol

Car did feel soft on back end

Yes. You absolutely need to be in sport mode, but I didn't know about the sport mode first thing before ECS OFF. I think my normal pattern is sport mode, then hold TC button until I get the off message

Good healthy runs on your first attempt Grumpy, especially in that D/A for sure.

As for the LC issue, I always have to go from D/S, back to D, then back again to D/S when I get to the staging lanes up to the Christmas tree. It was like that on the oem tcu file as well, even if I'm in dynamic mode with DSC off/sport. Not sure if it has to do with the car moving to line up at the tree? If I turn off DSC and in dynamic, and the car doesn't move forward, the LC will work.

Amazing run for the first. Dsg is a bit of a no brainier but you will dial in a better time the more you practice. I can't wait till it cools off a bit here in Las Vegas. Got to test this 183mm out with e85...
