It's much easier to get big power out of the V6. Whoever said V8's can make more power is technically correct, but it cost $14.5k for the APR supercharger and maybe half that for the JHM. I have no experience with either, but with all due respect, it sounds like either option is outside of your budget. They are certainly outside of mine. For a few grand you can get deep into the 400's with a supercharged V6 but then you'll have a supercharged V6. As much as we all like to talk about horsepower, most of us don't need more than OEM to put a big smile on our face. The V8 is in your budget, and with a nice exhaust you will fall in love. Yes, you will spend 2k on a full exhaust including installation (no headers, all the systems available are post manifold.) I have the AWE track on mine. I drive it daily even if I don't need to. When others play golf or turn on their playstation I go for a drive. Every time I hit the gas it sounds like God stubbed his toe on an a-bomb.
If you want smiles per miles buy the cheapest V8 you can find and throw on an exhaust, sway bars, and a used set of lightweight wheels.
You're welcome.
I will definitely go full exhaust, intake, JHM tune and a few other go fast goodies, but I'd prefer to buy and enthusiast car with some mods already done.
I'm hoping and praying that just over 300 at the wheels, in a package as nice as the S5, will be enough, but yea...I'm not sure yet.
Agreed, those s/c's are out of my price range. I don't think I could ever go that route, even though at $7k, it's probably the most cost effective use of money. It's just a lot to drop in one shot.
You read me well, I'm addicted to that V8 sound...I don't care what make/model, as long as it sounds like a pissed off lion.
I've done a quick search and I may have to wait a bit. Most of the cars for sale within a few hundred miles are near 100k mile examples and poorly kept, yet they're still asking for 20-25k. I may need to wait a bit for an enthusiast owned car, with tasteful mods and sub 80k miles, to drop into that price-range.
