    Brake pad recommendation?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My brake light indicator finally came on. I know I can get pads and installation substantially cheaper than what Audi charges. Can anyone recommend what pads to buy and where?

Also, would I need rotors as well? I'm at 26k and this would be my first brake job.

Akebono Euro Ceramics FTW. GEt them on Amazon. Virtually ZERO brake dust. As for rotors, depends on thickness of current rotors. A good shop should be able to measure your rotors to see if they are within spec.

akebono now makes rotors as well, so you can get a full akebono set.

I recently changed my pads and rotors at around 44k. Ended up going akebono and Zimmerman rotors. Very inexpensive but you lose some of the bite but love the nonexistent brake dust.

Earlier this year I got Akebono ceramic pads with Textar rotors. Was extremely unhappy with the loud squealing at low speeds with the OEM pads/rotors. As others have said, the bite of the Akebono pads is absolutely less than the OEM, but they have been dead quiet over the 5k miles I have had them. The zero brake dust is a nice side benefit.
