RS4 conversion in progress, need help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Im currently doing an RS4 conversion from an S4... I have searched and searched and can not find anything. Does anybody know if the rear bumper brackets need to be swapped out? It appears that the RS4 body mounted slide bracket would be a little wider than the S4 brackets. The RS4 bumper came with the bumper mounted bracket, just not sure about the body mounted side of it. TIA.

No, not at all. Im actually inquiring about the rear bumper. The rear bumper mounts by sliding onto the car. It does this by using a 2 part bracket. One part is installed on the body, more specifically the quarter panel(behind the rear bumper ) and the other part is installed on the back side of the bumper. The two parts slide into eachother as the bumper gets installed. I need to know if the part installed onto the body side needs to be the S4 part# of the RS4 part#

Are u using the rs4 bumper on a sedan or avant. Avant should bolt up fine depending on how u welded ur rear quarters on. Sedan is a totally custom piece.

Its a sedan. The used quarters I have are just the sheetmetal that you see when all assembled. Nothing behind the bumper, that will all be stock S4 metal. When you say custom piece, are you referring to the bracket in question?

    Part in question:

The rear bumper needs to be pretty much cut in half to fit the contour of the sedan. The rs4 in the rear is actually wider so the bumper stick out further on the sides. I have more time in the rear bumper than I do my quarters. Another issue is they are two different materials. One is a thermoset and the other is a thermoplastic meaning you cannot plastic weld them.

He's asking about rear bumper shocks and rear bumper guides.

Can be use the S4 ones or does he need RS4 ones?

Yes it works but you need to modify all the mounting tabs going to the bumper
