RNS-E questions...

I bought a c5 allroad with the RNS-E previously installed. Make a long story short the faceplate is too narrow, and tall, to fit correctly in the C5. Which brings me to believe that it is in fact a b6 unit NOT a c5 unit.

How can I be certain? Part number is 8E0 035 192 J.


It will be going up for sale once I figure out which car it belongs to, what do they go for? Navigation, radio, etc all works as it should with a navigation disc included.

The RNS-E head unit can work with the C5 as well as the B6. You just need the correct faceplate for the head unit. The part number for the head unit will not help as it could be used in a wide selection of Audis. You would need to go find the correct faceplate and swap them to make it work with your C5.

In ETKA the "J" revision corresponds to a B6 part. In general, actually, the prefix 8E0 refers to B-chassis parts. From what I can tell, the c5 RNS-E is "4B0035192P". Hope that helps.

Looks like I will end up selling the entire unit. Finding a faceplate seems to be more of a hassle than what it would be worth.

Ya its hard enough to find a 4B0 unit and its near impossible to find a 4B0 faceplate separate. B5 guys, myself included, need the 4B0 units to fit in the b5's since the faceplates are near identical to the b5 faceplates.

Yeah, I can't for the life of me figure out why the previous owner swapped this unit in. The car has factory satellite etc, so im sure it came stock with the RNS-E. And being an 05, it had the better version in comparrison to prior years.
