    I just got mine on eBay for around $45. Works great and no more error. With the DIY video floating around I had a hell of a time getting mine back into place. There's a tool a guy uses on YouTube if you search replacing the 3rd brake light in a A4 B8. That tool looks to make it a lot easier.

    Everything is easy.
    Put your fingers under and pull down(hard).
    Slide the light down along with the window.
    Disconnect the connector.

    Is your light working from time to time? If yes, then its the 2 pins you attach the connector to that is loose. You need to solder them back in place.

    just a wiggle on the switch fixed my warning light ..plug connector was dodgy ..2013 with 29k on the clock
