    Compatibility questions

    Hi all,

I have seen over the years a variety of swapped parts and mods done to these engines but am not too sure on where to find reference materials on what is a compatible part for swapping.

I am considering swapping my heads on my 2.7T with the 2.8 heads or just the cams?! Could someone fill me on on whether i need to do just the cam swap or is the entire head compatible?

Also, i have seen many 2.7 blocks circulating the net. with my 2.7t 6spd manual trans. do i need to find a 2.7 which came from a manual car or will the ones mated to a tiptronic automatic version work with my trans?

Is there a write up in existence on what will mate with what and what parts can be changed with other model parts?

    Thanks everyone

can anyone at least tell me if a 2.7t is the same between an automatic car and a manual car? I have seen lots of 2.7t motors for sale but they are usually attached to an automatic transmission. Is the block the same specs between a manual and automatic?

    Thanks!!!!

Uh, the info is scattered, but available.

Look into the tip to manual conversion threads. I know the block will work, but not sure of all the parts you'll need to swap over from your manual car. Shouldn't be too hard though. this might get you started:
http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...nsmission-Swap If you know the right tuner/shop they'll know the answers off the top of their head.

there's a ton of threads on the 2.7T cams vs heads and what's required to do it right. Just keep in mind swapping to high flow cams and manifolds has its tradeoffs, and on k04 or below sized turbos many believe there isn't any gains to be had due to the fact tunes are often limiting flow in high rpms to preserve the turbos. here's an old one, generally 2.7T exhaust valves gotta be swapped over, and talk to your tuner about the intake cam etc: http://www.audiworld.com/forums/s4-r...-swap-1634780/

My thinking is to do the bigger injectors, fuel pump upgrade, do the RS6 turbo package, and the 2.8L heads is that a feasible setup?
