Belly pan/ skid plate - drawing dims?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Looking to fab a skid plate at my shop to replace my plastic belly pan that was tore off. Does anyone have a drawing with the dimensions of the belly pan? Looking to fab out of aluminum. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks Andy

Well since he said "fab at my shop," I'm guessing he is going with DIY, which is cheaper, and feels satisfying if you pull it off.

Just checked about $250 from diesel. I'd say that's a really good deal considering its almost 100 - 150 for a OEM one.

hrm, probably the only place to get one would be from someone who's already made a cover. the service manual only has service illustrations, and the parts guide generally illustrates things in perspective without dimensions. i would tape a big piece of butcher paper to the underside to get the rough dimensions, then precisely measure each mounting hole relative to each other and pick one to be your reference.

hope to see updates if you pull it off!

Well it would be pretty easy to measure the factory belly pan. The only reason OP didn't is because he said it was torn off and is gone. Someone who is changing their oil (Audi should have taken a hint from BMW and put a trap door on that stupid thing) should measure theirs. I'd volunteer, but I try to avoid removing that damn thing unless absolutely necessary.

oh, i know, i meant to use the paper in lieu of the pan. the edges of the pan aren't as important as getting the mounting holes all right; once the mounting holes are spaced correctly the plate can be trimmed and bent to fit.

I have the belly pan off on the b7 that I'm parting out... what dimensions are you looking for? bolt locations or overall dimensions?

I got mine off ebay, pretty durable except the hardware spots, they seem to wear very easy and fall off. need to put washers on mine now to keep them on.

I used the ecs skid plate. Contrary to many, it does fit with the rivnuts and spacers.
