not a biggy. I bought a ten pack of batteries cr 2032 from merit line about $5 for ten. replaced my self. Sure dealer would do it, but less hassle to do it myself.

Pull your key out of your pocket

Look at the key.

Push the silver button and remove the metal key portion.

Flip the key over and push the black plastic button.

Pull the plastic portion out.

Replace the dead battery.

Reinstall in the reverse order.

Congratulate yourself that you were not that dumb to schedule a service appointment for having your key fob battery replaced.

With the mechanical key out(The chrome cap) squeeze the little black tab and pull out.

You have to pull fairly hard as it has an seal to protect from water getting in.

WOW! Thanks! I never thought about the battery in the key. Haven't had the warning but since I had a couple CR2032's in the drawer, I just replaced them. Took 5 seconds each.

My production crew was not available so I had to use my phone. The key is very well made I have to say. I put this diy an 8 out of 10 on the difficulty scale. Opening the car door is slightly less intensive.

If you still need help you can mail me your key and address and I will come to your place and pick your car up to make sure the new battery works.

It's rated as a 3.0volt battery, but new is actually 3.25 volts. Mine was flagged at 3.02 volts, so the system is warning really early.

Talked to my SA, he said use of non-Audi batteries in the FOB can void warranty and flag car TD1, highly recommended skilled technician at dealership change them out instead, cost $ 39.75 for battery plus half an hour labor charge.

Crap, that's a good point.. You should make sure to swap your original Audi battery back in before you take it in for service.

bro, please pixlelate my username when quoting about my keyfob issue, i cannot afford a TD1. also please note my SA stated he can replace my batteries for free but my cigarette plugged in dashcam would need to be thrown away or flagged as TD1. please advise

That reminds me, SA also said the new battery needs to be coded in order to maximize life. So if anyone wants help, I have a Vag-Com cable and can do locally for beers. Figured I'd just throw that out there to my fellow Audizine peeps!

I heard APR is working on something to really improve performance here as well. I bet we see an APR-2032 in the near future. Pricing is rumored around $50.

She told me and I laughed in her face like I've never laughed before!!!!! I showed her how simple/stupid it is to replace the battery in the fob and then told her how dumb she was.... It was good entertainment for the day!!!!!!
