    Angry Some issues with shifter

Hey guys, I have a stage 3 B5S4 with a JHM shifter linkage. Reverse in my car has been a little difficult at times to get, but after months I got used to it. Well I let the woman drive the car and I hopped in it and noticed the car was making a strange noise front where the linkage goes underneath the car, but only when you hit the accelerator when it is in gear, not in neutral revving it, not rolling in gear, only when a load is put on the engine in gear. The noise is almost like an interior trim rattle, but a little louder. Shortly thereafter I tried to put the car in reverse.. And it was no where to be found. then the shifter spring clip thing came off.. I had never had issues like this with the car even when the stock trans took a dump when the shift collar broke. The transmission in the car now is a 6spd out of a 2003 Audi A4 3.0 AWD with roughly 92k on it, and has never given me an issue since installed as far as gears go. The clutch disc is an unknown 6puck with an RS4 pressure plate and Fidanza LWFW, they have less than 1800 miles on them. Also, My woman knows how to drive the car and has driven it for quite some time, but every time she drives it without me it breaks . but this has me baffled.. I don't have a lift so I can't put it in the air to figure out what the noise is.

I had a similar problem with the shifter/linkage, and ended up going back to the stock shifter as I feel it eventually led to the demise of my 1-2 collar. Not to mention the extra effort required to shift. I'd say you need to adjust it some, or realign the shifter so you can engage all gears. Wish I had something a bit more technical for you.

This is better than nothing, Thank you so much Mikey. I have someone interested in helping me fix it who has a lift and experience with B5's.

Upon further inspection.. The car does NOT have a JHM linkage... or it did and the shop I had to the work swapped it on me... Either way the adjustment screw on the linkage came loose and the c clip was way up by the shift knob lol.
