    My first Audi - A4 b5 1.8t Quattro

I've owned VW's (currently drive a 2003 Passat 1.8t), including a pretty serious '83 GTI with a 2.0, big cam and Megasquirt. Had the opportunity to save this REAL clean car for $200.
It had a suspected blown head gasket and leaky water pump...

So I ordered head gasket and all the timing belt stuff and pulled the head. Checked it (I'm a machinist) and it was warped about .006". Set it up in the CNC and flattened it out.

Started right up and ran fairly well. Had a bunch of codes - checked on VAG-COM and cleared them. Seemed to not like to warm up - miss fired and threw another batch of codes. Also didn't seem to have any boost. Completely gutless. I unplugged the MAF and voila!! Great power!!

This will be a fun second car for a guy who lives less than a mile from work... and I'm currently building a REAL hot rod, so with that in mind - simple and effective upgrades to make it a bit more sporty - what should I do with the MAF? Stock replacement?

Some of my mis-fire problem seemed to go away when I repaired (properly) the coil harness...
14 butt splices and 5 open solder joints, some of which showed signs of shorting!

Last weekend replaced the LCD screen in the instrument cluster - works great now!! $30 off ebay. LOL
Have front outer CV boots coming and a new arm rest pad... then have to fix the A/C.

Last weekend also deleted the resonator and "modified" the cat. convertor. Turned a spacer up on the lathe to move the O2 sensor way out from the stock position - will see if it is happy when I get on top of the MAF issue.

Yeah... didn't want to invest a bunch of time in it if the head was warped beyond repair, so I just left everything assembled. LOL

Swapped the MAF from my 2003 VW Passat to the Audi and it's quite happy. Cleared all the codes with VAG-COM...

Decided to see how the block 115 requested vs. actual boost was looking...
I got the graph but don't know what the values were. Requested is in yellow and actual is in light grey, rpm is red and green is load.
