onelove B8.5 Ibis White Allroad Build Thread

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!

I've spent months here lurking but happy to finally be able to post my very own build thread. It's been a long time in the making but I finally picked up a 2013 White Allroad Premium as a daily driver and safe transportation when I've got my 1yo daughter riding with me. I work in the performance aftermarket industry so it's not likely to remain stock for long, much to my wife's despise. I've always loved the looks of the Allroad with the 2 tone exterior the flares provide, and slammed with larger wheels they just hit a sweet spot. I'd been looking for months when I tracked down a low mileage CPO version at Prestige Audi that checked all the boxes and flew down to Miami and drove her back to Orlando.

The other car, my 996 GT3 thats modified in all the right places and just at home on the track as it is on the street. She'l be getting a healthy mini-restoration now that she's being retired to the weekend and date night drive.

Good Catch, it's Ibis White. If a moderator is bored and wants to correct the title I won't be mad :)

Awesome, pretty sure this is the same one I was looking at at one point haha. It is funny that there were no allroads in Orlando 2 weeks ago and now there are 2 . You'll have to come out to meet up with us one of these days.

Nothing too exciting yet with the Allroad, just wrapped up a few weeks worth of fun hosting Nakai San from Rauh Welt and getting RWB Orlando Completed for a client and friend.

During that time my Allroad developed 2 typical B8.5 issues I've read about here on the forums in my learning phase and got a trip to the dealer today to get the Water Pump replaced (at 26.5K miles) and the headlight washer replaced. I did managed to get a Blendmount for my Passport Radar but need to find some time to hardwire it.

Been super swamped with work and other projects but found a bit of time to do some tweaking to the Allroad.

First up was keeping momma and baby happy, purchased a Recaro Pro-Ride car seat and it fits like a glove in the Allroad in a rear facing position, still have plenty of room for the passenger. Installed a Brica seat guardian plus protector under the car seat to try and prevent indentations in the leather and keep the crumbs to a minimum.

Also acquired a set of factory rear window shades, at some point I'll re-tint the windows and go a bit darker but for now these will keep things a bit cooler for occupants in the back.

Hardwired my Escort Max360 and hung it from the mirror using a blend mount, the mute button is now in the ashtray where it can be easily reached but also concealed quite easily.

Now for the more exciting stuff to come this week, the boys at Rotiform hooked me up with a set of 20x10 -25 Cast SPF in a Black and DDT finish, wrapped in Nitto NT55 G2s in 255/35/20. I originally was going to wait and get their new RSE's but got a bit impatient and wanted to continue with the Black wheel habit I have on my other cars. I don't imagine it will be long before I go forged wheels and air bags on this car, but for now its a daily driver so I have to keep things "practical".

Wednesday I'll be dropping the car off at BC Racing who is local to me and having a set of Coilovers fitted to the car. They currently have an option for B8s, however they're going to use my car as a test fit and develop something geared specifically towards those with Allroads and Avants.

Nice...my friend Sam was talking to BC about coilovers for my allroad when i got it this summer - they backed out. Good to see they are now willing to jump in, as the market will be hot now that the B9's are out.

Sweet project, did you check out the allroad thread on avants only?

nice choice in wheels! I have the same ones on my avant, and I love them. The DDT sold me..its pretty cool how it changes color depending on the light. Enjoy the new shoes and keep up the good work on the AR!

Great group of guys, surprised they were able to fit me in with Sema being so close but they did. Right now I'm like a kid before Christmas, a room full of parts waiting for the day to install them all. Hope to have pictures Thursday night if I have enough time to get the ride height dialed.

Thanks! I originally ordered all Black, but their inventory was wrong so I went with DDT and planned on powder coating them Gloss black if I didn't like it.... needless to say seeing the finish in person sold me on it.

Ran all the way to the fuse box so that I could take advantage of the remote Mute button in the ashtray using Escorts hardwire kit. If I had just tapped power by the mirror I wouldn't have had to use the mute button on top of the mirror and I prefer it seperate.

BC worked with the car today and did a test fit using the A4 kit, they're made some allroad/avant specific changes that they've going to send to production. In a few weeks I'll bring the car back for a test fit / review and see how these modifications worked out on the car and they'll likely have a specific kit available in the near future. Fortunately going overseas for a few weeks which should make waiting to bolt everything go up go by a little quicker, anxious to get her done!

Sweet ride! Can't wait to see it when its done!

How do you like the Recaro? I have a 1 year old too, and the Britax car seat we have barely fits in my Avant. I have to slide the seat pretty much all the way forward for it to fit.

We had the Britax in my wifes X5, I held out on purchasing one until I got the Allroad (no car seats in the GT3) and after seeing how well it fit we also swapped my wifes to the Pro Ride. Fitment is great in both cars and still leaves plenty of room for the passenger. Should be even better when she's old/big enough to switch to front facing as well. The seat protector also helps keep the back of the seat clean as she's dancing her feet around.

I'm the type who can't stand wheel gap enough that I won't even bolt the wheels on until the suspension goes on..... fortunately I'm out of town for 2 weeks so hopefully the coilovers are ready upon my return!

Finally got back into town and my roof rack was waiting so I got to installing it this weekend. I went with the Whispbar Flushbar and installed using the K328 install kit. The instructions for assembly are quite terrible but after looking everything over 3-4 times to make sure I was installing correctly, the rack was on the car. I initially was going to install the Railbar system, but after looking at some pictures I decided on the Flushbar as I'll be using the rack for my stand up paddleboards and surf boards which likely would have interfered with the fin.

I'm patiently waiting on the prototype coilovers to arrive at BC so that I can have them installed and post a detailed review. I'm not a fan of wheel well gap so it's quite difficult seeing my wheels sitting in the office and having to talk myself out of installing them in the meantime.

Just got the suspension and wheel install wrapped up by the guys over at BC Racing. After having some custom pieces built specifically for the Allroad and doing a few test fits we ultimately decided that that A4 kit was sufficient without the need for the taller pieces. On full low settings the car had a FTG clearance of 25.5 front and 25.25 rear on stock wheels, quite a bit lower than I would be running my car but nice numbers for a car show or special occasion (or those who really just want to be low). This being my daily driver I opted for a 26.50 FTG clearance which ultimately worked out to be a bit higher one I installed the new 20" Rotiforms with their slightly taller tire setup. Right now the car is sitting between 26.75 and 27 with plenty of ground clearance and the ride is quite good even with the stock BC Springs. They offer a Sprint spring upgrade which I may upgrade to at some point but ultimately I wanted to see how the car would be on the off the shelf production setup to give them the best feedback. I'm quite happy with the new appearance and on our smooth Florida roads the ride quality hasn't diminished much at all, I've got the dampers set at 22 which is right in the middle and will experiment a bit once they settle in a bit. In the next few weeks I'll reset the height to 26.5, install the Hotchkis sway bars I picked up and have the car aligned, I'm not quite sure I'll be needing the upper control arms but will cross that bridge once I get there.

The rims are Rotiform SPF in 20x10 -25 offset wrapped in Nitto NT55 G2s in 255/35/20.

As the suspension settled over the weekend I get the slightest rub in the right rear which is the lowest corner, a quick adjustment of the inner lip on the fender should take care of it.
