    NAV/maps questions

I've had the car about 2 weeks now.

    1. I updated the maps through the MMI online, and it was about 250 MB.
I downloaded the latest maps through AC online and it was about 1.3 GB. I haven't used it yet, but probably will. Why the difference?

    2. When my NAV is on auto, it's showing the night image even though it's sunny-- it's darker. When I change it to Day, it corrects itself and becomes brighter, until I change it back to Auto. Is there another setting somewhere I'm missing? Is there a sensor or time issue? It's an issue whether or not it's on Google maps or the standard one.

I know this may be silly... but have you checked your time settings to make sure the AM/PM aren't switched?

    Um....no, but I will. ;)
I thought it was sensor driven and not clock driven, but I'll check.

Update: The clock settings were right. I turned the lights to the Off position, and the map went to day, and when I changed the light back to auto, it stayed there. I'll see how it goes. Weird.

    It's doing it again.
NAV is staying on Night mode, even in broad daylight when set to Auto.
    Someone mentioned a sensitivity adjustment?
I can't find one if it's in the MMI.
    Anyone know if it exists?

If you turn on the foglights, the headlight will come on and then the night mode is engaged. Also on a dark day, the headlights can come on, forcing the display to night.

Look to the headlight control (indicator lamp), to see if it is turning green, when you see the night display, it is normally orange in the day (look carefully, it is dim).

    Thanks for the response.
    Foglights are off.
Not a dark/cloudy day--another sunny day here in Phoenix.
Regarding the headlight control indicator lamp, I usually leave it on Auto. I never noted the color. I'll check it later when I leave work and post back.

    Well, checking back.
The light between the Auto and Low beams, which I believe are parking lights, are green when the maps are showing the night map during the day.
When I turn the light to Off, the maps switch to Day, and when I switch back to Auto, they go back to night.
I guess I'll need to bring it in and have them look at it.
