    Vossen VFS1 19x9.5 ET40 on Audi A3 S-Line

    Hello everyone out there,

I truly need help and advice from everyone and anyone who can tell me or give me an advice on running Vossen vfs1 wheel with the size of 19x9.5 et40!

I've got the Vossen wheels and I've got the tires which in 235/35/19 continental contisportcontact 5p

Today I went to the workshop to have them fit those wheels for me and they did a trial on the rear wheel by just putting the wheels without the tire mount on it yet since the guy at the workshop reckon those wheel will not fit the car!!

And I told the guy that I've seen a few people with the same car and are running on the same Vossen wheel with the same offset and size!

So they went ahead to do the fitting trial and everything goes smoothly until the wheel was actually very close to the rear shock! Which the guy said, once the wheel and tire mounted and have the bolt tighten them, it'll definitely rub against the shock and in worst case the wheel will be ruin and it probably won't even move!

So if anybody out there that can help me or have already running this set up without issue please tell me how did you guys managed and is there such trick or some type of fact that needs to be acknowledge before fitting these wheels on.

My car is a 2014 Audi A3 Quattro S-line 1.8TFSI 8V which is identical to an S3 except the size of the engine. So please can someone explain why do I have this issue? And btw my car is running on stock height as I want to see what sort of clearance I have got left after fitting those wheels before going ahead to choose what sort of set up height I want.

I be really appreciate it if someone with a great knowledge can help me out of this as I've bought all of these things but only to find out it doesn't fit onto the car:(

It should clear once you lower the car. I have 245 tires and 9.5 wide with et40 offset. There is room to run a 5mm spacer in rear if you are really concerned.

Thank you for letting me know! I think I shall go back to the workshop and tell the guy to js mount the tires and fit the wheels on and drop the car to see how it will holds up to it!

Besides from what you said on running 245 width of tires are much wider than what I have now so mine shouldn't be much of a problem I suppose!

May I ask, do you have issue with the wheels rubbing the rear shock before dropping the car? And do you have 5mm spacer on right now to avoid the rubbing? Because in Australia having spacer is illegal don't exactly know why they made such stupid law but please let me know what are your current set up.

I got the wheels after I was dropped. No spacers currently. You can check my build thread for all the details.

If they offer et35, that would work also.

Did you lowered your car before having those wheels on? Or you meant having those wheels fitted then dropped from the jack without any issue?

But I'm glad you didn't have any issue with the wheels rubbing on the rear shock before even lowering your ride from the jack!

By the way, can I suggest something for your ride?? Anyhow I think that everything on your ride is awesome except one thing that is missing is having a front splitter:)

I know there's front splitter that first made by the Japanese Audi racing team which called hitotsuyama gmbh and now Emmanuel design start rolling out theirs as well which look similar but it's pricey!

But one best website to get them would be from maxtondesign which are from Europe and its hella cheaper by lots!
And I'm sure your S3 will take it to the next level:)

hey im on the same boat as CW im running 245/35/19 hankooks on a 19x9.5 et 40

hes lowered on b14s im on nuespeed springs have about 3/4 of an inch from the strut. the spring sits high so i think you would be able to run 9.5 et 40 on stock suspension but im not 100% sure.

    I see!!!
And that's exactly what I thought as well, my ride is on stock height and shouldn't be an issue at all!! At the moment the wheels aren't necessarily rubbing against the strut yet but the guy who is fitting them is seemingly hesitant to do the job!! So he refused to mount the tires on the wheel and wanted me to check with the guy who sold the wheels to me to find out more about it!

But considering all of this, I think I might js pester the guy at the tire fitting center to js put them on and drop the car from the jacks to see if the wheels are truly rubbing the strut to the point where I can't even drive! Otherwise I have this feeling that it should work!
But damm I truly wish someone who is running Vossen vfs1 wheel would tell me that it is ok and it should be perfectly fine to ease off my damm worries about it especially after spending all that money! Not sure how expensive those Vossen vfs1 wheels cost up in the state but for me I had to pay up close to $4,000 plus them tires equals $5000:(

I gained space on the inside going from stock suspension when I switched to Coilovers

    Are you on Vossen vfs1 19x9.5 et40?
And did you try with the stock suspension before going onto coilovers?

No I currently run 18x9 et48. I wanted to go 9.5 wide so I test fitted a VMR 9.5 et45 it just barley cleared the front strut inside and the wheel slightly poked both front and rear.

My current tires are 255/35-18. I do not want / like the stretched tire look.

9.5 with et45 is way beyond insane!!
I suppose if you've tried that set up and barely clears the strut then I should be alright with et40. I js Dnt know why the guy wouldn't want to fit the wheels for me and persistently saying that my wheels are going to be damaged since it will rub on the strut and lowering would be even worst as he said! So now my wheels and tires are stuck at the workshop waiting for someone to help explain that it should be fine even thought the wheels looks like it's barely clear the strut!

But it does gives a slight poke outside which that's the look I'm going for js the inside is what stressing the fuck outta me!!

Anyhow I really hope someone can see this forum post and with the same experience to clarify it with me so I can explain to this dude at the workshop!!
