    Remote custom tuning

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am in a Audi performance desert oasis. I am looking for custom tuning in the Virginia (Richmond) area. Ideally I would like to do this remotely with data logs, but am willing to travel several hours. I am not in a position to mess around with Maestro or something similar at this point as I don't have the time.

I am coming from the B5 world where there were a number of options for this. I haven't had much success for the B7.

    Any input appreciated. Thanks.

Well, on the plus side, you're only 3 hours away from RAI.....

I'm pretty sure they teamed up with eurodyne some time ago so any tweaks you need to do you will be able to change that later on. Nothing beats an in house tune with pros doing the work.

Most of the feedback I have seen regarding RAI is not the inspiring.

I may have to go the route of eurodyne or maestro. The notion interests me, but I am not sure of the time commitment to do it properly. I am running a GT series turbo, meth and I.E. rods.

What's your ecu part number? Most of the leg work for you to custom tune , has already been laid out . If you take the time to learn it , you will be set for life.

Edit: not sure why the double post. I think a big issue is that I am running an old GIAC file and I am not sure it can be overwritten. I have a second ECU that I am hoping to clone but I have to get the original ECU back to stock.

Eric from here already has a definition file laid out on nefmoto for your ecu. He has all of the addresses laid out for you. The instructions on how to clone the ecu are there also. There are also stock files to, overwrite your current file. I suggest you make a copy of your giac file first , since you paid for it.

I'd stay away from maestro. Ask some of the b5 tuners if they've messed with the med9 ecus before or find someone who knows WINOLS.

Maestro is decent. It won't be like a custom tune but I don't get all the hate for that program. Documentation sucks and you'll need a lot of background info but the program itself is fine and will get you 95% of the way there. My gtx setup runs fine at this point.

Adam what is your ECU pn for the A4 your did with the K04? i am getting no where fast with Motoza trying to get this done has become linger then the rebuild. I am thinking since my car is 95% same as yours i might be ahead to try the maestro route if i can get simple to follow instructions.

    thanks

    rick

ps being in CR has convinced me to just buy an M3 next time or similar and forget this effort in the future.

I had a 115M ecu on that car. I think I still have my files somewhere but I no longer have maestro. If you want, I can send you my last file. It was for a built motor with meth.

Why not go with JHM if you have a K04? Just rent or buy their flasher. UM also have a remote flasher. As does Malone tuning I believe. Just other options outside of Maestro.

I just spoke to one of the guys in Greece. He said to grab rs4 injectors prior to reaching out to revlimit. I may go this route soon myself. Unless dotuning wants to have a go at it.

I shud sell maestro and learn ols as you suggested. Or let a pro do the tuning as its not one of my strong suits.

That would be great but my motor is just ko4, meth, upgraded HPFP, S3 injectors, R8 coilovers, new large FMIC, 3" hi flow cat and SS exhaust, after that is just suspension upgrades. if you did rods and such maybe your tune it to much from my motor? I am not a wiz on vcds i can work it with thought and the guys here have said maestro is very hard. so not sure but seems operator is recommending JHM and UM now as options. i was going to give dave another week as its been 2 months and then if no luck as for a refund and try with maestro or another tuner. my issue is i need to pass emissions here and then revert to a good tune cant come close now as its way rich on stock tune. advice?

    thanks as always.

are you familiar with this company and product, seems a lot simpler than maestro. of course i guess you still need advice knowledge etc about changing the parameters on the PC side.
at least my model motor etc is supported.

With maestro you can set your emissions readiness yourself. My car passes e test here in Canada every time and has for the last number of years while tuned.

If your computer savy (which I am not) you should be able to navigate through the programs and do the tuning. Similar to rocket science yes, easy enough myself can use it tuning yes. I hate the computer side of things. Give me a carburator any day of the week I'll get it running efficiently. Me telling a computer to tell a car what to do, well that's just not my thing.

This device is designed to read and write to the ECU. I have one. Someone still has to write the code and do the tuning.

Here in Costa Rica they shove a sensor up the tail pipe dont care about ODB port or the gauges or lights just the sniffer. so is that an issue?

All depends on cat then. i wud think? If your cat doesn't remove all it shud the sniffer will fail you.

Wonder if removing one of the resonators and putting a cheap offshore cat in wud skew the test enough to read a sniffer test pass? Might be a lot of work but cud be beneficial in your case. (This wud envolve some welding and multiple v band clamps. remove able cat pipe mid?)
