Minimum oil

So I was driving today and a warning came up saying my car has minimum oil and I need to add a quart (1 and a half max). I pulled into auto zone and threw in a quart and a half and everything seems good. What's with the oil consumption on these cars? Is this normal? I think I have put around 3000 miles on this car since I bought it cpo last October.

I end up adding about 1qt over each oil change cycle (3000 miles). I did on my RS4 (1-2qts) before this car too. Just part of owning these cars.

I even bought a dipstick for my S5 so I can see the oil level/quality and don't rely on the electronics to tell me when I'm getting close to add time. $38 from the dealer.

Yep, buy a case-load or three, you'll be needing it over the course of the next few years.

I've been trying to determine some oil consumption issues as well. I have had the dealership tell me the oil pan is leaking a little, I need to replace it. Last oil change was 2500 miles ago, and I'm at the halfway point on the MMI bar. Typically need to have the dealer top it off twice in 7-8k oil intervals i run. My consumption compared to a lot of people on here seems to be normal or even better than that. I think if I ever need to top it off 3 times between changes you know something is going on. Or you are just driving the dick out of it.

i know the v8 models have had to deal with this for a while now, but I'm curious if any 3.0T guys have been having to deal with this as well? I have a 3.0t and I just got that warning yesterday. I also had the same warning come on a couple months ago before my scheduled maintenance. Oil gets changed every 5k miles. Car has ~60k miles on it now. Mines a 13 model. I've added oil everytime the warning light came on.

Mine needs about 1/2- 1 qt added per year. Same engine.

I'm due for service / oil change in like 3k miles and the min oil level add 1/4q max notification came on recently ^.^ (b8.5 s5)

I have a 2014 A5 with 14000 mile son it and I got the same message and had to add one quart after 4500 miles.

I have a 13 S5 47k on it and i usually need to top of close to the end of the intervals of scheduled maintenance. Not to bad... and i like to think i ride it pretty spirited as well.

I think some dealers are shorting us on oil too. Had my oil changed and checked it the next day...3/4 full! I'm so glad I prepaid for that type of service lol
