    32mm offset on 19x8.5 of B8.5 A4 quattro?

    HI:

Offset is really confusing me. I am looking at this wheel off an S5. 8t0601025f

I have a 2013 A4 Quattro. It has 17s, and the offset according to the Audi dealer parts guy is 45mm on my 17s. he said the 32mm may not work or cause issues.

    The 19" wheel is a 19x8.5 with a 255/35R tire. offset is 32mm.

Will these wheels work and what are the issues with putting a lesser offset on? I searched but could not find anything on the 8.5 A4 with 19s.

Has anyone done this and had success?

    thx

    Quick and dirty offset explanation:

You know the where the center of the wheel mounts to the wheel hub, that surface (on the back of the wheel) is where offset is measured. Imagine if that surface was pushed further into the depth of the wheel, or pulled further out towards the face of the wheel... that is offset. The very middle of the wheel depth being 0mm.

With that out of the way, the wheel specs above are well within tolerances and fit without concern.

so another issue....lowering. The 19s seem to suffer from the monster truck look and the cars that are lowered look much better.

Is it only 19s that do this or will 18s need to be lowered as well? I like the look of 19s, but it really seems the hassle factor goes up (offset, height...) and the ever present damage factor.

Are 18's the way to go? I don't really drive aggressively, I just think the 17s on the car now look ridiculous. IMHO the B8.5 begs for larger wheels.

The general consensus is lower it or put on OEM sport suspension. Almost any wheel looks like a 4x4 pre-drop.

It's not the wheel diameter that gives your car the 4x4 look.
Your rolling diameter will not change (much) when switching between 17", 18", or 19" wheels because the tire sidewall should compensate for the difference in wheel diameter.
The 4x4 effect is really a symptom of the stock ride height suspension combined with an aggressively offset wheel.

If choosing between suspension or aggressive wheels, I'd choose to do suspension first.

Check out the links below for stock suspension A4s with A5/S5 wheels.

Hell, same money as wheels I can get it dropped 1.2 inch all around. Eichbach has a 1.2 front, 1.4 rear kit.

Any downside to dropping by a spring kit?

Your shocks will fail in about 10k miles. Do coilovers or the B12 Pro Kit. Or retrofit OE sport suspension if you only want a very mild drop.

Those wheels will fit just fine though... That's actually a great fitment for sedans. I run 8.5 ET35, which looks great, and a few mm more flush wouldn't be an issue.
