    Help with HUD Lap timer

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    I was following the procedure:

Enable Lap Timer Shown in HUD- also enables shift light
    [17 - Instruments] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 1
Bit 3 - Check the box for "Lap Timer active"

after I hit "load coding helper" I did not see Byte 1. So I could not proceed to Bit 3 and check the box for "lap Timer active". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure from the main screen you have gone "[Select] -> [17 Instruments] -> [Coding 07] -> [Long code helper]

From memory when you click [Coding 07] and then the long code helper button, byte 1 is already displayed. Under that should be some check boxes and bit 3 will be one of them. Check it and click do it.

Correct that: Byte 0 is displayed first, so you need to click the second box in beside the "3)", shown as a green "00" in the example (different screen shown here for example)

Thank you. I would have never figured that out on my own. I did what you said and now have lap timer working. I will be using this feature in a few weeks. I have my first track day scheduled in a few weeks.

Glad I could help. The lap timer with boost is my favorite mod, since the HUD shows my current gear, when in this mode.

Just so I'm sure. Mine only shows the current gear I'm in when I'm in manual shift mode. When it's in "D" I only get the "D" symbol in my HUD.

There's another option that turns on the current gear display in D and S modes. Here in New Zealand it's enabled by defaults. Here is the option:

Enable Automatic Gear selection shown in DIS
    [02 – Auto Trans] [Adaptation – 10]
Select “Single Gear Display” from top channel drop down menu
Select “D on/S on” from New value drop down menu

For some reason I cannot get the lap timer to show up on my DIS menu. I did activate it with VagCom but it's not listed in the menu. It's a 2012 S7 (MY2013). Should it work on every cars or do some cars miss this option?
I realy don't care much for the lap timer itself, but I'd love to have the gear showing up on the HUD. Do you guys have any tip for me? :)

Unfortunately some 2012 models cannot enable the lap timer. :(
