ishmo's blue S5 build thread - I am back in a B8 S5 coupe!

I traded in my previous S5 back in early 2015 and it didn't take long for me to miss it. Last week I got back into another 2010 S5, this time with a 6mt. The exterior is deep sea blue and it has a black alcantara interior. For packages, it has prestige with drive select. I really wish it had a backup camera so I am going to try to retrofit it. All the parts have been ordered so hopefully it will be my project for next weekend.

The car's exterior is in kind of bad shape in the sense that there are a lot of swirls and holograms in the paint. Next week the paint will be corrected and a ceramic coating applied. I can't wait to see the transformation.

The only thing I have done so far is replace the headlights with 6000k bulbs. One was out and I wanted to try out the different color. I purchased cheap ones off amazon as I wanted something fast but I will get higher quality ones. They were really easy to replace.

Congrats! DSB is a great color. The AWE track is a great option for exhaust, and you have tons of options for wheels. Wanting to stay with 19's? You could simply refinish those for less than $500. Shooting those fog grilles with some Wurth satin black trim paint would be a great cheap mod.

Awesome another DSB! Which there isn't a ton of on here i don't believe. Such a awesome color in person as it flips in different lighting. I literally JUST got mine back this morning from the shop. I have a set of Vorsteiner wheels on their thanks to MOPS . Nice OEM look. VERY hard color to capture via picture. At least to really do it justice, especially when the sun is shining. I haven't even had a chance to put any VRT tire shine on it yet. Which is killing my OCD in this pic lol.

+1 to Vnaimal's post & this is perhaps one the BEST colors I have seen on a car in a long while. Didn't even know it was an available color. Very sophisticated, elegant look. Gorgeous! Namvar is right, MOPS will not steer U wrong & has exceptional taste/style. He's always willing to help

I got the car back from the detail shop yesterday. The paint looks so much better now that the clarity has been restored. Before, you couldn't really see the metallic speckle but now it is really visible. I'm very happy with the color. I quickly snapped a couple pics, not the greatest but whatever.






I got all the parts in to retrofit the backup camera so I will try to do it tomorrow.

Yesterday I was able to successfully add a backup camera to the car. I put the latch/camera unit in and realized wiring it is a bit more involved than I thought. Luckily, there was a shop open that does quality work open and were able to accommodate me that day. They installed the module into the holder and wired everything. All I had to do when I got home was code it which took no time at all. I now have the backup camera functionality with the lines that curve with the turn of the steering wheel.
