Soooo no more Traffic Services for 2017s in Canada

Even though it show up as options to check off in my menu screen in my A4, (Traffic interruptions//Traffic Flow), you can no longer get Traffic through Sirius on the new A4. It's only done through Audi Connect and INRIX now, which, of course is NOT available in Canada. Spoke to Audi Canada and they danced around the whole topic.

Yes, Audi Connect is coming to A4 models being ordered now as an option BUT our version of Audi Connect is basic, roadside assistance etc, no google maps or Traffic.

So one begs to question, what's the point.

Really disappointed in the Canadian version of the A4 for technology. There is so much more that was left out.

I just don't want to use my Data for Apple Maps every time I'm driving.

Yeah, I love my Audi but the technology isn't up there with the competitors - at least in Canada. I have an SQ5, a variant of a pretty old model so I 'kind of" get the not-so-high-tech. But even then, how hard is it to get the GPS right? Going to the zoo outside the city with the kids last week. Its about an hour drive. Tried EVERYTHING to find it in the GPS with no luck (I didn't use address, because my whole point was that it should be about to find a BIG WELL KNOWN ZOO without knowing the address.) Nothing. Tried every search method imaginable. Just out of sheer stubborness. Drove my wife nuts. It couldn't find the Zoo even when I was AT the zoo. I even took a picture from the parking lot with the giant "ZOO" sign 50 feet from the car, with the GPS in the foreground showing "No results" to the search word "zoo." Really Audi? A car that runs almost $70K with tax and the GPS is vastly inferior to my 7 year old Garmin Nuvi that I bought for like $95? Shame on you.

So, I am surprised to hear that the new A4 isn't a big leap forward in technology, but in some ways I am not given how mediocre their current offerings are.

It might have to do something about paying a licensing fee to use the TMC data. It's available out there but it's not free. Here in Toronto and other cities in Canada, I believe that the data is handled by Clear Channel Broadcasting and/or NAVTEQ, guessing Audi decided it wasn't worth paying for it given the number of cars sold here. It's unfortunate, given some of the other NAV systems from other brands, it's nice having the ability to see that traffic data and it automatically rerouting you to avoid the traffic.

INRIX aggregates all of the various traffic data and is made available over the internet, hence the need to get Audi Connect.

The whole Audi connect thing in Canada has left me with a very sour taste. This has been the case since the tech rolled out in 2011-2012. If I buy another Audi it will be in the states to bring to Canada, since most of the tech works in Canada anyways.

I got 2012 S5, and been thinking of getting US unit so I can have Google maps.
Any one done it?

Sounds like a lot of work lol, but thanks. Plus mines on Lease so I don't wanna mess with warranty etc.

Funny enough, both Sirius xm Canada and US claim it works (traffic) without Audi Connect, basically like my 2015 did but I just tried it again today and it doesn't work.

US has Traffic Plus and Travel Link they say work on my radio ID but again, tried, doesn't work.

Audi Canada has no idea....."Audi Customer Care"

So, therefore I put my '17 A4 on Lease Busters and will get another one lol

Apple Maps is "ok" .....

I have a 2013 S6 and for some reason the traffic in my car has been working the last couple of weeks. I don't have audi connect either

Can't use that method anymore. Rosstech won't get you into the hidden menu.
