Just found a post on another website (AW):

    HSP says,
Original owner of a 2007 S6. Use it as a daily driver in Colorado and don't have any issues with comfort/driveability. There is no such thing as too much power :-).

Overall reliability is good. I've not had any major issues.

However, general maintenance is expensive. For example, $700 to replace rear brake rotors and pads. $1600 for set of four summer tires. Additional $2000 for set of four snow tires. (definitely required in snowy climates). Scheduled maintenance in the $800 - $1200 range every 9-12 months.

Now that the car is out of warranty, crossing my fingers.

Just did an Intake manifold and both throttle bodies about 4K.

Replaced the AFS headlights @ 1k/each

    $100 oil change.

    Is it worth it? Absolutely.

I ended up getting a extended warranty by USAA, took the car in for an oil change, and >2k and 2 weeks later after USAA denying the claim for pre-existing condition, after several lengthy phone calls, they finally approved and covered 2 of the 10 spark plugs/coils and Valve Cover Gaskets. they basically split the bill with me. car still isn't running right, but was told to put some miles on it. Not too damn happy with USAA for all the run-around. I did get a free AUDI Baseball Cap... BONUS!

I am sorry-new to threads on v10 S6's...what are the typical problems? I am going to test drive an '07 with 30k miles on it...just kind of wondering what I would be getting into...I know obviously audi dealerships are expensive for everyday type maintenance like $100 oil changes...my concern is more the really expensive problems that plague some other models of audis over the past decade and a half, for example-b5 s4's with timing belts, b6-b7 s4's with timing chain adjusters-that sort of thing...Thanks!

Not many problems associated with the engine, trans or car for that matter. Most of the regular repairs such as oxygen sensors and starters are expensive $1500-$2500 due to shops labor of 12+ hours. If you are equipped to do most of your own labor then the car is a decent value....and the carbon build up is an issue as with most direct injection engines.

I can say that if you want a car that's new inside-out, expect to spend a shit load of money. I didn't even know there were companies out there offering warranties on our car since I had trouble finding one. Well, you can find one, but finding one that will definitely pay for anything that comes up, not so reliable. So far, I've put around $10k into the car lol... $5k to have all gaskets redone, intake spacer kit, JHM exhaust on order, new Intake Manifold on back order from Audi corporate (old version has issues, so they did complete redesign), currently unitronic tuned but I'll be getting a JHM tune whenever the exhaust shows up. And I got a bunch of carbon fiber OEM parts from the audi exclusive kit, as well as some aftermarket carbon fiber parts. Uhhhh, that's the gist so far... I'll say if you find a warranty that'll actually cover stuff, buy it...

Tried posting a picture of my car from AudiRevolution but AZ blocks it I guess... Go to AudiRevolution for all of the S6 V10 guys... that's where we all are.

I 100% agree with this, if you can work on the car yourself its really not that expensive. I have hardly owned mine more then 2 months and by doing the work myself I have saved at least a couple thousand already

so here's the latest, finally got the warranty working for me again, they claim there was a personality conflict between my Service guy and their claims guy. what ever. so far 15k in repairs, included( injectors, plugs, coils, intake manifold, battery) motor seems to run better for the most part, although it runs much better on start-up and cold than once it heats up. it seems that the long/short air diverter isn't working as it should, really bogged down in 'D' mode. in 'S' mode it has a much better response curve, but again once its warm it doesn't pull as hard, especially in the top end. As for more needed repairs, the transmission still does what feels like a neutral drop when in traffic moving slow and then try to accelerate, almost like its stuck in 2nd but not really engaged until it revs up a bit and Bam, slams in 1st gear and lurches forward. Next repair is on the sun roof, started shitting parts out in my lap some long skinny springs, then one day it didn't want to move from mid-way, neither open or close, I was freaking out until I found out you can manually force it closed. haven't touched it since. and Here's the best one, A mean old Curb tried to eat my front bumper cover. 1k for a OEM replacement on EBAY, really trying to find some other options.

well, its been a few months of trouble free driving other than the sunroof, now have 112k miles.so I finally scheduled it, they tried to get pre-approved for R&R, USAA denied the claim, said that I've already maxed out the warranty, some clause about a Black Book Value on the car being maximum they will shell out. so my 4k warranty ended up paying out only 10k in repairs, guess I did get my money's worth. now the bad news, while they were doing an oil change / inspection they found my tires have separated due to bushings being broken, axle CV boots are torn, radiator hose is about to break, a couple other hoses are brittle, bottom line over 4k. starting to explore just how much I can repair myself.

Yikes, $4000 seems very high! Check FCP Euro for the front end control arm suspension kit. IIRC, it’s like $650 for the Meyle HD set. Use OEM CV boots ($80 each) and if the bearings aren’t clicking on turns, just repack with grease and call it a day.
