Suggest stopping by an Advanced Auto or anyone that can read codes. My car felt fine when my check engine came on and then the next start was significantly worse. The result was my timing chain tensioner failed and an expensive repair to follow including towing.

Usually it's free. Also, the CEL is turned on by the ECU strictly for EMISSIONS reasons. It does not come on for mechanical issues and whatnot unless they are directly affecting emissions of the engine.

Lately I've heard a little rattle sound coming from under the passenger glove box. I'm assuming that's probably the reason but idk what it is. I'll heard over to autozone

That rattle sound is probably completely unrelated, we had something similar and it was our a/c fan...

Advanced Auto probably won't be of too much help if they don't have a VAG specific scanner which my local one sure didn't

Last Sunday I got gas. I twisted the cap till I heard a click. The guys at Firestone when I called with the code said 9 out of 20 times its just a gas cap issue lol

I'd take the cap off and then put it back on. Bet the light goes out in a few restarts.

If you go by Autozone again this weekend stop by and have them reset the code.

I'm at Audi currently buying a new cap. Mine was super old and dirty. Side track but does your gas ever increase? I was at 285 miles and it randomly went up to 290 miles. It happens pretty often for me

You mean the gas mileage to empty? Sure. That's just an estimate based upon your current mpg and the amount of fuel left in your tank. It will go up and down with your average mpg - usually higher on the highway and lower in town driving.

It takes a certain amount of restarts to clear the ECU - I don't know how many. On my Saab it's 50 restarts for most codes if you don't reset it. That's why I suggest having AutoZone reset it for you.

I had my car in the dealer a few time for small evap leak. They swapped tons of sensors and shit, didn't work. They needed to replace the charcoal canister.

But it's usually the gas cap.

Small evap leaks can be very hard to hunt down. Shops do a smoke test to find leaks but its possible it can be so small that the smoke will not be visible from it. Remove the plastic engine cover and on the intake manifold is the N80 valve. Look over the lines going to it. This often turns into swapping parts out one by one to see if it fixes it.

Yea I know an ex Audi mechanic that works at the Firestone by my house and he said they'd run a smoke test and take it from there. Only problem he said is my car is too low for their lifts lolol

My neighbor has a vag com. He reset the code for me, how do I know he didn't just turn the code off. Would the check engine light come back on if fixing the gas cap wasn't the problem

Yes, your fault was leak related, so drive and see what happens after few miles, days etc!

This code is about a vacuum leak, not a fluid leak. For several years now all cars have to have a built-in system to keep gas fumes from escaping into the air. This is done with the evap system. It needs a vacuum to operate correctly while the car is running and if there is any issue at reaching the correct vacuum that's when this code will be triggered.
