yes coil pack or vacuum leak. pull each coil one at a time and see if it gets worse

It just sounds like a coil pack to me, I wouldn't jump right on tracing down a vacuum leak before ruling out a coil pack, which is much more straight forward.
Swap the cylinder one coil pack to cylinder 2 and see if the misfire code switches to that cylinder. If it stays on cylinder one inspect the wiring to that cylinder, if the code switches with the coil pack then replace said coil pack. A vacuum leak shouldn't repeatedly cause a cylinder 1 misfire only.

Did the fault exist before the new spark plugs?

I bet you cracked the wires near the connector when changing out the plugs... It becomes very brittle... Just cut off the rubber boot (carefully) and see if the wires are bare... My money is they are....

It would cause misfires anywhere the wires are cracked at... You can make a new harness pretty cheap and it will last for years to come...

They are nice but they are the most expensive... I just bought new ends for $15 and crimped them in...

    Yes that is my engine....

Yeah! Just do one at a time (do not cut off all 4)... It is only 4 wires each and you just need to crimp them in place..

Man I hate UK pricing... you guys get ripped off in your country....

Like I said in my original post, be sure to rule out the bad coil pack before you assume it is a wiring issue. If wiring (which it still may be) I would expect misfires at idle as well (?).

He can just move the coil to another cylinder to see if the misfire follows the coil.. If not, it's the harness.. Either way I would still replace the harness... They are mostly all junk by now...

Maybe you have a bad spark plug. Try changing that first.
