Is it time to let go?

Unfortunately my brother got in a wreck with his b6. He has had this car since it was new and this was hard for him. It's looking like insurance will be totaling it, so we will be buying it back and fixing everything except paint ourselves. What are you guys thinking on this condition? The frame rail is straight. The only thing we are worried about is the inner fender like where the airbox sits, that got pretty mangled. Is this something we can just cut out and "zeus" a new one in? Or is it sold as a reproduction part? Not sure any help would be appreciated

This is what I'm talking about, it's been pushed out and down to where it is now on the tire. Here is a picture out of my car (not wrecked) trying to show what I'm talking about. Sorry for the garbage pictures. Will have better ones tomorrow

why not just take the insurance money and buy another? Definitely send them some info on similar a4s being sold, the amount they give you is very negotiable if you can prove how much it would cost to replace exactly what you want.

My brother would really prefer not to. Do you think the damage is that bad?

It'll never be the same... And probably will cost more then you get back from the insurance to fix... Trust me I know... Same thing happened to my k04 b6 that I had since new... My parts live on another b6

"Are you actually asking that question.. Just don't even post on my thread. why do I need to lie on an Audi forum about me fucking two bitches at once. (not literally) yes i did, you are late to the party.
and this thread has ran out of gas. I just wanted to tell people about my experience I had 2 nights ago and felt like sharing it with my fellow B6'ers. And I thank the people who didn't hate."

frame isn't tweaked...all else could EASILY be fixed by a body shop to a like original condition. if you were to do it all yourself i'd guestimate it would be around 600-1000 in parts alone. shop may charge up to 2k for the repair with paint.

I am not sure what the A frame is, I am thinking he might be meaning control arm?

The crank shaft harmonic balancer was bent and the timing covers were pushed in about 1/4". Took me 4 months of taking my time to get it back together. I did all the work by my self in the driveway.

ok so with the new pictures it seems this work will cost more. I personally have been through a similar situation. I ended up piecing the car and moved onto a next. it was hard to let go and took a year but I eventually parted the car and junked the chassis. for me it would have coated 5k in repairs at the time. a whole new car at the time only costed 4k. I'm now onto my 4th B6 A4.

I had a similar wreck, but not quite as bad. Estimate from dealer body shop was $3700. The other guy's insurance cut me a check for $3500. I bought all the parts; fender, headlight, hood, etc, on here and on eBay for under a grand.

Depends how much money insurance is giving you for the car.All in all it doesnt looks so bad.You can find most of the parts either aftermarket or used second hand.Could probably find a fender hood and bumper in black ready to go.Rad support is cheap.headlights are cheap also.Airbox is not a big deal. All those parts are pretty cheap. However like I said if insurance is giving you 10k for the car.Take the money and run.Depends on the price.

If you're going to put any time and affort into it you need to get it on a frame machine to get the chassis back to where is supposed to be and make sure the suspension pickup points are right. That's a pretty good hit that's going to require real bodywork to make it right ( pull it back to shape weld in new pieces). A guess for a pro shop to do a complete job would be at least $8500, easily more. Used parts can save a bit, in the end you have a car with a branded title that's worth even less.
