Getting GIAC stage 1 ECU tune but not DSG tune

Planning to get GIAC stage 1 ECU tune this week but wasn't going to get the DSG tune. My car is my DD and will do a few track days every now and then. Wanted thoughts on the tune and if I should just shell out and do the DSG also.

I tried stage 1 without DSG and wasn't a fan at all--I wouldn't recommend it. That said, stage 2 with DSG is a different story.

its still has to be better than just stock. i mean, obviously the more mods the better. but to say one shouldnt even bother with stage 1 w/out a dsg tune is a little much, no?

I'm running stage 2 eurodyne without dsg and no problems. You should be fine.

Definitely do the DSG flash as well. I was APR stage 1 for a week and then had the DSG flashed as well - felt way more powerful (clutches may have been slipping and trans software limiting torque). The whole car just felt way better with both.

I agree with this. One should get buy with any stage 1 without DSG and all is good. In GIAC's case though, stage 1 without is not a good driving experience unless they made improvements to their stage 1 map.

I was going with GIAC because we only get 91 octane in CA and they are local in Irvine so I thought the tune would run best on the local gas.

So, it is needed with stage 1 ecu tune? I am wondering if I need to have only ecu tune for stage 1 or doing together ecu and dsg.
