Issue fitting the gearbox bracket due to wagnertuning down pipe not following the same line as stock.
Modified the bracket and had an engineering shop weld it up for me.

    Nice work!

Any thoughts about improvements on the pinch bolt for UCAs? Seems that these are the worst on Al upright cars. I wonder if there is a better coating option for the bolt to help avoid corrosion.

Hmm good question. You'd probably want to go for nickel based anti seize. Lather that shit on.

More work on the rear of the car today. Rear brakes fitted, wheel arch liners and handbrake cables.

A couple of pics of my new fuel lines and the fuel filter setup. Im using oem filters but the fuel lines (3/8 hardlines now) are larger than standard. All fittings are speedflow.
Im happy with how they have turned out, its looks oem with a splash of racecar. These aluminum hard lines replace the oem plastic ones.

I decided to check my hydraulic throwout bearing to make sure its clearance from the clutch spring fingers was acceptable. Turns out it was 1cm off. Damn time to pull the box off again. I have added shims to get it from 1cm down to 2mm. Now im just waiting for cluchmasters to get back to me to confirm this distance.*

Took the dead battery out that has sat there for 12months. Rust, rust everywhere!

I attacked this with a rotating wire brush and then used rust converter, a primer base and finally 2 coats of satin black. That has sorted the rust problem.

After it dries out It should be barely noticeable.

Paint dry and back to normal.

Pic of where my fuel lines enter the engine bay. Larger billet lines.

    Finished making rear brake lines.

    Engine with intake on.

Rear of the car looking tidy.

Sad state of affairs. 1 years worth of workshop dust sitting here

Car is back home now. 1 year 1 month and 1 week later. No boost, vacuum, fuel, oil, coolant, power steering, clutch or brake fluid leaks after 100kms of driving! Woohoo!

2000kms of clutch run in and a thorough look over on the hoist again and then the stage 3+ tune can happen.

Why is that interesting? If it works as it should there is no point in replacing anything and you can still replace them with
the actual OEM parts instead of converting to something. You have been fooled by the sales propaganda!

There is some merit to 2.0 coils especially to replace aging stock setups, but the Hanover car used stock coilpacks and ICMs so from a performance standpoint they are more than capable if in good working order.

I can only speak for myself, but the cost of replacing 2.0t coils is lower than the oem 2.7t coils and eliminating the pricey ICM is a selling point for me.
updated parts, lower replacement cost. not to mention if you shop around and are handy at diy projects you can do the icm delete/coil pack conversion for about $250

Inspiring stuff. I nod to your meticulousness. I suffer from a similar orientation, but seeing it done to an RS4 steps it up considerably. Job well done, sir.

how are you supposed to pull the Y pipe with quickness? JK i hate those clamps. They are awful for any of the charge pipes. Luckily they probably work fine on pipes with negative pressure.

The T3 diff feels good. The car feels a lot more agile and you get the sensation of being pushed from the rear. I think the rear Wavetrac diff is playing a big role in it too. You can feel the rear locking up when cornering very hard. The front inside wheel dosen't spin up like before mid corner. It feels like the front has more grip now. I have not yet reached a point where the front begins to understeer like it did before the rebuild.

    Nice we need some videos.
Also to rnagy the tfsi coilpacks
are definitely an upgrade. On the
urs4 the factory coilpacks and icms
are very similar to the b5 and they
have a hard time keeping up with
    cars that have only 400-500whp.

Also they’ll cost more when replacing icms & packs vs just changing packs.
You’re taking one weak link out of the equation.

They feel good. Kind of wish I went poly for the rear subframe bushings instead of Billet Aluminum. That is the only thing I thing I would do different if I were to do It again. I'm not getting any squeaks from the poly bushings and they were installed 12months ago and 4000kms.

Too Stiff? Not at all! The car handles absolutely beautifully with the tight, stiff rear end. It's just the aluminum transmits a fair amount of gear noise to the chassis. It's very 'racecar'.
