    VCDS Question

I was recently having issues with my a/c (wound up needing to replace the condenser and refrigerant pressure switch). Shop pulled about 7 codes for the HVAC. However, whenever I would scan with VCDS, it would not even pick up on HVAC (8- HVAC; would go through the three attempts and timeout). I could scan the remaining modules I have, but not that one. I have an authentic Ross-Tech cable and full version of VCDS.

    Any idea why that's happening?

Another issue I'm having is that the brake pad sensor light is illuminated, despite having new pads/sensors. I know i can short it to make the light go out, but I'd prefer to actually fix the issue. Where do the wires go from the wheel well, so I can trace back where it may be broken?

    Thanks in advance!

Did you figure out why VCDS wasn't able to connect to the HVAC module?

No, I've been emailing back and forth with Ross-Tech, providing scan logs and debug logs to try to figure it out. Still not connecting.

You have to change the baud rate or something to connect to some HVAC units. Just google it, there are plenty of other people with the exact same problem. I had the same issue and changed some setting in the adapter settings in windows and it worked instantly.

They replied back to me late last night, saying that i had an unusual and out of date calibration file, and to use the one they attached in the email. Haven't gotten a chance to test it out yet.

This is what I was referring to and what worked for me.

Did you receive a calibration file from rosstech for the hvac? I was informed there were no label files for the hvac unit...

I don't see any comm errors, just no comm at all to the HVAC. They didn't specify whether the cal file was specifically for the HVAC. The calibration on my cable is what I think they were referring to. So when I get a chance to test (in about an hour), they provided a few steps to follow to see if it does, indeed, finally connect to the HVAC, and run another scan.

Update: Calibration file took immediately upon hitting "Test" in the options. Went to 08 - HVAC and it read it on the first try!
