Audi Service Action notice received yesterday in mail

So I received a Service Action 82B8 from Audi regarding an issue with the Auxiliary Air Heater(PTC element) stating that heating performance may decrease performance over time and a software update of the climate control module will address the issue. Not even sure what an Auxiliary Air Heater is.

Anyone else receive this notice?

Yes I got my letter few days ago. I think it's just a software update hopefully. It's still warm here in CT so can't test my in cabin heater. Surely will be addressing this before cold season starts.

I dropped my allroad of at the dealership today for my 85k service. My service guy told me when I walked in that a "service action" was out for my vehicle and that they would be doing that. He also had my TSB/Service Action history and told me everything else was up to date on my car. Matt at Prestige Imports ---- you are the man and thanks for taking care of my ride.

Oh.... and the 2017 Q7 for a loaner doesn't suck either.

I dropped my car at the dealer for an A/C System check and they told me that they needed to do a "system reset" or "software update" as you guys are calling it. Wasn't sure why, but i guess now it makes more sense.

The ECU wouldn't have anything to do with the climate control module.

Then again I'm out of warranty so who gives a shit if I'm TD1'd.

Your update doesn't have anything to do with your mods..... hopefully your dealership isn't a dick about it.

I understand, the software update isn't my concern. More so regards to my inspection / emissions with a flashed vehicle and a laundry list of things that weren't on it when I purchased it.

Wonder if it's a facelift-related issue? Any pre-facelift owners in here that received notice?

I'll have to get in touch with Matt when I go to get this update. Never been a fan of Audi Denver, was like pulling teeth to get them to perform stage 1 oil consumption test - Prestige is closer anyways.

I have to ask, how is Prestige with modded cars? I have STG 1 software along with a few other enhancements, car is still technically under warranty for the next 4K. TIA

Have it re-tuned back to stock to be safe. Once it's plugged in, you're TD1 automatically.

I'm in the same boat.. this update might be something to put off until later... Good luck on passing emissions!...

I went in to have my passenger side headlight washer fixed as it was leaking for the 2nd time. First time i went and had the nozzle replaced I flashed back to stock. All they did was removed the plastic wheel well to access the nozzle and replaced it, car was done in 30 minutes. So this time around i said f it and went with my tune on. I get there and they tell me there is this service for my car. I did not even think of it at the time and said OK do it. I did not get the service notice in the mail until 2 days after. They did not mention anything to me about any of my bolt ons or the ecu tune. I suppose we will find if I am TD1 next time i go for warranty work. I am also over 50k and am on my CPO warranty ($85 deductible for any warranty work). Long story short, i received my car back with stock software. Make sure you flash to stock for any software updates.

How come I have never received any notice or recall letter from my Audi dealer? I guess they don't care about their customers in NYC. Too many people here buying Audi here and they don't mind losing the business from one or two customer.

1: mailings just went out this week
2: are you an original owner? If not, Audi may not have your info
3: mailing comes from Audi - not your dealer
4: call Audi Customer Service and make sure they have your info.

UPDATE: Just got back from having the service done. Took about 45 minutes and my APR Tune was untouched. All is well!

I was told they would only be looking at and updating the climate control system. Nothing else was said and nothing else is on the receipt...... My warranty is up in a couple of weeks, anyway.

From the letter it sounds as though the heating element is degrading in performance with the current voltage applied to it. It may be that they want to reduce the performance of the heater grid by reducing the applied voltage so it doesn't fail before the warranty runs out. A failed electric heating element grid replacement under warranty would require a dash removal.....OUCH!

So I received a letter last August about this issue. I was planning on having it fixed on my next service visit which will be sometime in March 2017. Now that it's cold here in CT, I started to notice that my driver side is not heating up even if I put it on high while the passenger side and the rear are blowing heated air. Anyone having this issue on your A4? Hoping it's just a software fix and not a hardware. Scheduled my appointment next week coz I can't take it anymore. I will update as soon when they fix the issue.

Had the software update two weeks ago when I took mine in for it;s 55kkm service. Up here in Canada, it doesn't seem that they send out a notice....at least I didn't get one, but they did the software update automatically. No issues.

Fwiw. When I brought my car in for 15k they didn't do the update to software because I told service guy I had STG1 APR ( he's cool he does too) and did not want it to interfere. He said if I ever see this decline then they'll reprogram.

I've never seen this for my 2013. I don't have the dual climate control though. It doesn't come up under the Audi recall/campaign lookup either. So I guess it doesn't apply to my particular A4?

They plug directly to the climate control module. I wen't in with stage 1 and came out unflagged still with stage 1.

Bout how much can I expect to pay to have them flash any updates onto the car that any of the modules may have, ecm, tcm, etc.
