Hi Audizine,
I've kind of been all over the place since the start of this thread, with random updates, etc. (Audizine is my "bored at work" escape... shhhhhhh)
And in light of the increasing number of PM's I have been recieving over my lowly little wago, I thought a full fledged update would be benefical.
So.... In an attempt to bring it all back together with a proper update, heres the old purchase day photo, current photo & also current full mod list with installation dates & links I found/used to help me accomplish all my mods (Also with my thoughts and notes).
Dislaimers;
1) PLEASE keep in mind, I'm just a regular IT guy who likes to pretend to be an vw mechanic! These are just the modification/maintanance/checks that I did on my B8 over the past few years... yes, there are different oils, plugs, tunes, part #s, flavors, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, sprinkles... In the end its your car, but if you like what I did, go for it. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery", I won't be offended. But please don't yell at me or blame me if things goes south on you!
2) I'm limited to the number of pictures I can save to Audizine album atm (I'm no photographer and dont have an online photo album yet). I'm in the process of moving my good photos over and adding my most current ones, so I don't loose my B6 photos. The local Audizine hosted album ones will have to do for you guys for now!

Please be patient
*Highlights are in sig, but a lot of small things are missed that I wanted to note for future me.
**NO oil consumption, build date is 1/12 (from door sill plaque)
***Can't decide if I have a problem or not...

~ PLEASE DO NOT TURN THIS THREAD INTO AN OIL THREAD!!!!!!! It is just what I have been running in all my VW turbo motors with great success into their 175k+ trade in mileage...
Dipstick
~ 06J115611E
~
https://www.europaparts.com/oil-dips...6j115611e.html <- the one I bought
~ B8s do not come with a dipstick. Do yourself a favor and try not to rely solely on the MMI... The yellow OEM one touches the hood a bit, people trim it, I didn't. ECS makes a flatter top version to solve this, but whatever floats your boat.
VAG-COM tweaks; needle sweep, chime deletes, battery level gauge, etc.

034 Oil Catch Can
~
https://store.034motorsport.com/catc...-2-0-tfsi.html
~ Had the 42Draft Design one on my B6, read it mitigates carbon build up (probably only to an extent, but I'll take it as good insurance anyway).

ST-X Coilovers
~
http://www.stsuspensions.com/product...30&order=price
~ I have a wagon, keep that in mind when ordering any type of suspension. They are different.
~ 3 years on, ride is still like when they were new. Surface rust on threads, splash out for KW if you don't want to deal with that.
Alignment
~ Just have whoever installs your coilovers do your alignment, or get friendly with your local town fair.
~ Yes, this needs to be done.

~

Mototec Touring 3" Exhaust
~
https://www.eurosporttuning.com/moto...-dual-tip.html
~ I have "Touring", this only replaces the backboxes and central resonator. It keeps the downpipe resonator after the cat.
~ Had the "sport" version on my old A4, which gets rid of all resonators, and while it was a great exhaust in my "earlier" years I'm just too old for drone now. This combo of HFC, oem downpipe resonator, Mototec central resonator and backboxes provides me with a happy medium thats quiet under 3k rpm and "wakes up" when you get on it.
~ Again, there are many flavors of exhaust, but the price point + my end goal of noise are my reasons. And the quality of these Mototecs are fantastic.
APR Stage 2, single 93 file
~ This will put your rear O2 senor in "Not Supported" and you will FAIL in locales with ODBII inspection readiness checks...
~ I cannot tell you what to do... it's all about having a supportive shop close by who will flash you back to stock/stg 1 and put your OEM cat back in, or if you want to keep the HFC in; do the song and dance of clearing your cat codes and timing it "just right" before inspection time.
~ PLEASE DO NOT TURN THIS THREAD INTO AN EPA *TSK TSK*, I get ~35+ MPG and 415 miles EASY on my tank, so it is what it is...

S4 Rear stabilizer
~ 8K0511305AB

~ Do yourself a favor and drop the rear exhaust backboxes
Moog steel rear stabilizer links
~
https://www.moog-suspension-parts.com/moog-k750361
~ Fun mod with the rear stabilizer
3.0 TDI intercooler
~ 8K0145805E
~ I bought through Rockauto.com; Nissens Part Number:96618
~ People have since moved on to the ECS lufttec(sp?) it's a great deal and many AZ members have loved it, but I like to keep the "OEM-ness". So if thats also your thing too, go for it. The 3.0 TDI is probably a little lacking for those of you with K04s in warmer average climates however...
(12/2016)
GoFastBits Diverter Valve+
~
http://www.gfb.com.au/products/blow-...cations-detail
~ I liked seeing 20+ psi on my podi everyday

, so I figured my OEM diverter valve could use an upgrade.
~ In my browsing Audizine, there have been some claims that it causes problems but I haven't experienced any and its held up pretty good. Almost 3 years in and I haven't had to re-oil it. Probably should take a look at it...

~
https://www.hidconcept.com/
~
https://www.ampire.de/Multimedia/KUF...Nr=36229&p=299
~ Originally didn't want to do this... but I got a bad case of "projector envy" and slowly started assembling the parts and getting ready, found a used set of housings on eBay and new bulbs and ballasts from HIDconcept
~ Nothing more to say... follow that DIY thread and you will be happy

JC Sportline Front Splitter
~
https://www.amazon.com/JCSPORTLINE-F.../dp/B00TQ4HPKY
~ Keep an eye on Amazon if you want the un-painted, fiberglass version. Those typically run closer to 200$ when you can find it.
~ I still have it, just with some "low life" scrapes on it. No I'm not selling it, I plan on putting my OEM Non-Sline bumper back on when winter season comes back (Yes, I'm that crazy)

Strafe design skirts
~

BBS SR 18x8 et35 w/ Continental DWS
~
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-bbs-part...ur/sr014sgkt1/
~ I'm not into the stance scene (as much as I like the look), I just wanted to keep the same rolling diameter with a bit of style over my OEM 17s and still deal with potholes like a normal car...
~

Akebono Pads/Zimmerman rotors all round
~ Wanted low dust and my rotors hats to not rust
~ Wish they had a little more initial "bite", but my goodness, they do not dust at ALL!
S4 3 spoke steering wheel (I did not do paddle shift retro-fit, don't really care enough.)
~
https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...-Beyond/page17
~
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cR_qZH4-wg
~ "Gift" from same coworker with the S4
~ I originally had a 4spoke steering wheel, you can use the same airbag, just need to remove the plastic cover and trim the sides and bottom ever so slightly to allow the plastic cover to seat. You'll see what I mean if you dive into this mod... It's not hard.
~ Used lettuce's thread(Which is a goldmine btw) & advice + the youtube how-to for a B7... pretty much the same.

S-tronic shifter
~
https://europrice.us/shift-knob-s-tronic-dsg
~
https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...onic-Knob-swap
~ TAKE YOUR TIME TWISTING THAT LITTLE WHITE PIECE OF PLASTIC! Slowly heat up and crank it, over and over, until it is 90 degrees from where it started.
Base Seats thigh bolster screw removal
~ I'm 6ft+, lets the thigh bolster come up higher for better support.
~ Remove the front nut at the end of the height adjuster spiral gear under the driver seat to allow for an extra inch of upper leg support (the nut is pinched on, you need to release the pinches in the metal and it will just spin off).
~ Careful not to over-extend the motor and gear now, if you do, it makes a nasty noise.
~ Silly mod, but im surprised at how much more comfortable the base seats were during long drives.
Yi Qi Audi Chinese Domestic Market rear emblem
~ 4E08537422ZZ
~ Coworker in Shanghai, China bought it for me as a CNY gift at an FAW dealer for fun.

Xenon UK "RS" front bumper swap
~
https://www.xenonz.co.uk/store/p122/...4-B8-2008-2012
~ BODYWORK TAKES PATIENCE. If you don't have that or much experience with sanding, prepping plastic panels, do not attempt.
~ It fits well out of the box, but will deform a little after painting, you need to change the bumper bar as the OEM one is a little thicker in places and will not allow the bumper to match the body lines near headlights.
~ Side fender clips need to be trimmed flush.
~ Professionally painted.
~ Also be prepared to loose your foglights, lol (It's worth it

).
RS4 Hatch Spoiler (Fiberglass Replica)
~
https://www.ebay.com/itm/AUDI-A4-B8-...-/201998758791 <- One I bought.
~
https://tagmotorsports.com/b8-5-audi...ad-rs4-spoiler <- Legit one.
~ Professionally painted.
~ It is adhered to the OEM liftgate spoiler. If you have OEM S-Line trim, I've read it will not fit (even the OEM B8.5 RS4 spoiler is fitted to a non-sline hatch via double-sided tape... go figure.)
~ AGAIN, BODYWORK TAKES PATIENCE. If you don't have that or much experience with sanding, prepping plastic panels, do not attempt.

S4 Seat Swap
~
https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...eat-swap-D-I-Y (Thank you for your service 7speed, rest in peace & godspeed to you Sir)
~ Found a set on eBay with some scuffs and cuts in the leather for crazy cheap
~ Had local upholstery shop repair the panels and they look great!
~ I don't have memory seats, nor did the S4 seats, so the only thing I had to do during the swap was change the passenger seat "ass sensing" grey module to the one from my original passenger seat.
Unknown Date
ECS Skid plate
~ Probably should go hand in hand when installing some coil-overs...
::2012 B8 A4 Avant Premium @ 90k miles::
On tap for the coming months are;
+Intake valve carbon clean
(my boroscope shows some, but really not that bad for 90k! It looks mostly dry and not wet, if that means anything???)
+Change original timing belt
+Change original water pump
+Change original coolant
+Change original brake fluid
Other than being kind of low, the "modifications" have been rock solid and a perfect compromise for a really fun daily driver car. Albiet, they are mostly bolt-ons.
I DIY as much as possible, but sometimes I have to adult at my job abroad, so a local shop has been a HUGE help. (
https://www.speedlifemotorsport.com Thanks Jason!)
As always, I welcome questions/comments/thoughts. Anything, good or bad!
I get a lot of "Why didn't you buy a prestige" or "Fulled loaded" A4 questions, I guess I just enjoy the thrill of modding what I can...
If you read this far... hiya!
Cheers,
-John
