Anyone out there measured the minimum ground clearance on the B9 A4 Quattro? Mine has sport package. I'm not sure where to measure for the minimum clearance. I'm bottoming out getting into my garage when I have a passenger.

Guessing then that your problem is caused by the change in angle between the garage floor and the driveway leading to it. Wheelbase length is what is causing this; is it the front bumper or the body underside that is scraping? solution, other than changing friends or car ( ), is to change the angle of approach by adding ramps or angling the approach into the garage.

How about backing into the garage? That may make all the difference. I do that all the time, for a different reason. When I pull out of my driveway, it is on to a one lane road that is a steep, winding hill, so it is difficult to see if someone is driving or walking down the hill, due to the hill and curve. Pulling out of the driveway facing forward is much safer for me.

i t just takes a few practice runs to get comfortable backing into a garage.

Thanks a4audi4fun and others. You are correct that the difference between my new B9 A4 and my trusty old Passat is wheelbase (4.6 inches shorter than A4) & a slightly lower clearance (Passat = 5.8 inch). I still hope to get info on the minimum clearance its coordinates to help in my geometry problem solving (unlike many carmakers this dimension is not available from Audi). To others on this thread, my garage approach and layout present multiple constraints. House is 1920s vintage with Garage facing narrow alley and the entrance ramp is less than 4.5 ft in length, requiring a 3 point turn to get in. Backing in takes even more concentration, camera and all. Compounding this is that the alley is on a slight grade, making the driver side of the car lower as I enter. That's the literal rub. Working with a buddy that does concrete work to raise the elevation in that low corner of ramp to reduce the slope and hopefully solve the problem. Trying not to get into dispute with the city, as modifications to the alley are prohibited. As I hope everyone can appreciate, I did not see this coming. I was and remain delighted to have such a great new car. I was not quite prepared for a home improvement project. Ah, the hidden costs of ownership.

Thanks deedub. I probably should have clarified. My high centering scrape point occurs somewhere behind the front seat point of the car. My old Passat has a listed clearance of 5.8 inches but had a shorter wheelbase and did not bottom out. I now realize its the combination of the minimum ground clearance and the wheelbase length that figure into my challenge. While the overall length of the 04 Passat and the B9 A4 are within an inch, I did not properly appreciate how much longer the wheelbase is on the A4. Thanks again for your post.
