Hey all,
So a little over two weeks ago I got into my car to find that my MMI system was non responsive. The screen didn't flip up, and all of the buttons were not illuminated or responding to any input. I assumed this was a blown fuse for some reason and thought it would be no big deal. Turns out the dealer disagreed and thought otherwise.
I was told that the mirrortap that I had installed for my V1 was the reason that the fuse blew. However, before making this determination, there was a TSB out about the 5F control module possibly being the issue. So they replaced the entire control module. Unfortunately, the fuse continued to pop after they had done this. They located the mirrortap and removed it which in turn stopped the fuse from popping again. They covered the control module under warranty, but asked me to pay a couple hours labor as the whole project took them two days to sort out. Not terrible but I wasn't happy having to pay for anything related to this at all.
So, anyone had their mirrortap do something similar? Any thoughts on why this would be happening? I am tempted to plug it back in and see if it happens again... But everything has been fine for a few days now since it had been pulled out so I feel like it may not be worth messing with. Might just have to go the long way around and run the power down the A piller to the fuse box and install a dedicated fuse for the V1.
