    B9 A4 insurance rates high?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi everyone...I'm looking at getting a B9 A4 P+ with tech pack, cold weather and a few other random options. I got a quote of $72/month for this specific car. My son has a 2016 S3 on our policy with a sticker price around this A4 and his is only $65/month. Did you notice your rates to go up much? Does this seem reasonable? I'm a little concerned because when I gave them the VIN number it didn't come up so they had to figure out a rate for me. Any help would be appreciated!

It's funny, my B9 rates were actually lower than my 2015 A3 rates by a bit, mostly because of the added safety features. I didn't delve into the details, but liberty mutual calls the A3 a class 3 safety vehicle, and the A4 a class 4 vehicle.

Yeah I thought it was rather weird. I don't know how a 24 year old driving a $50k S3 could be cheaper than my 55 year old wife driving an A4. I might start shopping around. Thanks!

When I switched our coverage from a 2013 Q5 to a 2016 A6 our insurance went up just small amount. As I recall it was less than $20 per 6 months.

    B9 A4 insurance rates high?

I'm in Virginia near Washington, DC but generally rates are lower here than other places I've lived. When I changed over from my CLA to my B9 my rates went up a little. I think they increased $15 a month, so now I pay about $70 per month. I have a multi-car policy with GEICO. Full disclosure, I've got a clean record plus I qualify for several discounts.

I've got a Prem Plus with Tech and Sport packages.

I'm 21 in UT. I have a speeding ticket (14 over) and an accident that was not my fault, but was recorded as my fault. I have not been able to correct it and pretty much got screwed over (made right turn and got hit by a guy who was turning left accelerating very fast and talking on the phone). My insurance rates do fluctuate a lot it will spike to as high as $1800/6 month and as low as $950/6 months. It changes everytime I renew or get a new quote request, so I have to be on the lookout for a lower rate.

Anyways, when it got this car, it did initially cause my rate to bump up around $300/6 months from $1200 to the $1500, but I just got it back down to $950 last week.

Note that my coverages are also higher than others in my area. I keep $100k/$300k/$100k with $500 deductibles. Most I know keep minimum here which is only $25k/$65k/$15K.

Wow, dudes, best to be careful in your early driving years... as you are finding out. Life's pretty good in the 30s when you have a clean record. Less than $80/month for 2 drivers (wife and I ) and 2 vehicles, and we live in Germany where liability minimum requirements are in the millions of dollars instead of the thousands. Thank you USAA insurance. In the US (Omaha) we were paying $45/month each. I'll be getting a US-spec S4 whenever it is available, I am also curious to know how much it will hike up the premiums.

Mine is going up about $20/30 a month won't know for sure until I get the VIN number, I have been with State Farm since I was 19, I am 34 now. No accidents, no tickets on record. I also have my house insurance, personal item insurance (wife's wedding ring), and life insurance with them as well and just for the car I am paying $130 a month for full coverage, $500 accident deducible and zero deducible for comp. 28, B8 A4 info in sig, and $175/month with Gieco in NY with an accident. The only thing I notice in this thread with OP's crazy low rates is that he is in Florida. Last I knew, certain types of car insurance weren't required in FL, or if it was, it was a very low amount of coverage.

Wow, reading this thread makes me feel good about what I'm paying.

I'm at $475 Geico for full coverage 150/300 for 6 months on both our cars. 15 Grand Cherokee and 17 A4. Our policy covers me (38) and the wife (33) with a Chicago address. That's about $80/month.

I can't believe the low rates most of you are paying. I'm paying $121 a month for my B9, with a perfect driving record. But that's actually about $20 less a month than I paid on my 2009 A4, for the identical coverage. This is through Commerce in Massachusetts, which has some of the highest rates in the nation.

Edit: Funny thing is, if I moved 1/4 of a mile to the next town over, my rates would drop by $700-800 a year.

im at 388 a month on a s3 in Connecticut (no moving violations just a cell phone tickets 2, while on speaker phone an i also own my car)

to that guy in NYC thats not far fetched at all.............

i do have pretty high coverage though

you must live in state out in the midwest to be that cheap. even my last car 2013 honda accord was 108 a month

many factors with insurance companies............from one town to the next can raise or drop your rate drastically also

Here are some tips to reduce insurance rates: a) get old b) get married c) have children

Just picked up an A4 to replace my 16 S6 and my insurance went up $100 more per year. I was extremely surprised.

Wow. Thought it was just me. Insurance went up $60. Then I moved to NM from VA and that sent it up anothet $32. Now I'm sitting at $197. Ick. Would never have thought! Last three cars were all brand new. Two of them sports cars. One, a 911. Insurance hasn't been over $130 since I was a mis-fit teenager with a brand new license getting tickets every other week. Crazy! And definitely not liking it. Next time I'm shopping insurance rates efore buying another car.

    b) and c) will force you into a Q5 or Q7, at which point you might as well pray that a) hurries up. Had a Chevy Traverse for a car rental because the stupid rental company gave away my Expedition or Suburban this weekend. I never hated my life as much as I did on my weekend in wine country, at least I complained and they gave me the rental for free.

Liberty Mutual is a rip off but wow... wow, wow, wow. I was with them and I switched over, now I pay less for two cars than I was paying for one with them. NEVER again.
