    electric windows issue help please

i have a 2000 b5 tdi, the front windows haven't worked since i bought the car. after i day of removing window motors, and swapping between doors and switches, i have found that all my window switches work, and all my window motors work, however the front windows in the car will not go up or down, when you push the button, all that happens, is a click from the window motor, that you can hear, and also feel if you touch the motor. you would think that the motor was jammed, but like i say, when i had the same motor plugged into the rear door of the car, it worked perfect.

I'm just wondering has anyone had the same issue or similar, or if anyone could shed some light on what the problem may be, as I'm stumped.

any help would be much appreciated, thanks

Have you checked the track? And how the cable sits in the little sliding housing? I assume so but it's a good place to start

Sometimes those plastic pulleys for the cables can break, but if it's both front windows and you can move the windows without the motor installed I'd maybe investigate central locking pump? Depending on the year of the car that thing is in charge of a few things on the comfort bus.

Checked the mechannisms for the Windows, and with the motors removed, I was able to put both windows down and up again easily, as i originally thought it may have been a cable issue.

I tried operating the motor without it being bolted in place, and I got the same clicking noise I get when its bolted into the mechanism, it sounds/feels like a relay clicking on/off, but is coming from the window motor itself. If I hadn't seen the motor working when it was plugged into the rear door of the car, it would make you think the motor is jammed.

Been told by a couple of people to check the loom where it goes from the body of the car into the door, to see if there are any broken/damaged wires in there
