    VCDS mods for B9

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

I saw that Ross Tech released the Vag-Com update for the B9 finally. Does anyone have any insight in how I can get a list of possible mods?

    Thanks in advance,

There's a decent thread over here about it: http://www.audiworld.com/forums/a4-b...weaks-2898879/

Most of the 2017 Q7 mods should also work for it.

So I saw that article before, hence why I got curious to learn more. When I look at the Ross Tech website, it shows that 16.8 now has "Support for MLB2 platform cars (HEX-NET interface recommended)"

Has anyone tested this yet with their B9?

When I spoke with my dealer, they were not aware of a working VCDS for this model yet but I want to get the AZ oppinion also.

I plugged mine in earlier and adaptations for all control modules are listed and can be changed. Long coding helper has no information at this time.

Not sure if anyone is still following this, but I have compiled a list of tweaks that I have found at Audiworld and Ross-tech forums that are for the B9 amd 4M (Q7) platforms. There are a few that I still need to iron out because they were not written for vcds before I post them.

Hi DirtD1ver, do you have information for VCDS on how to keep the DRLs at full brightness with just the parking lights on for the A4 B9? I have the new cable but I am not sure how to proceed.

    Thanks

I will see if i can work on this this week.

UPDATE for the other codes. I have tried a good number of them, and will post them shortly. I have not gotten all of them to work however.

What about Base trims? lots of this stuff doesnt work!

anyone actually tried any of this stuff on a USA Premium (NOT plus) or Canadian "Komfort"? Ive tried many and had little success. The Premium is very basic and seems to lack a lot of necessary hardware like kessy and memory mirrors. Most of the stuff ive turned on has either not worked or caused problems.

Some of the things I have NOT succeeded in enabling with VCDS on my 2017 6MT:
comfort window/sunroof down from key fob
comfort window/sunroof up from key fob
mirror drop on reverse (right mirror completely stopped working)
    all-weather light as cornering light
any performance stuff on DIS (says my sport diff is broken)

Things I've turned on in MMI:
    DRL control
    AM HD radio

anyone know or can help. I've used VDCS for years on my B5S4 and EOS, but information on the base model A4 B9 is very hard to find.

Any help from those who KNOW would be great. if you have only programmed a higher trim, that wont help me - I have found lots of info online.

    Thanks!

    Dave

I was able to get high beam assist working on my 2017 A4 base (Premium). I'm still struggling to get these working:

open or close windows and sunroof from radio key remote (no convenience key or buttons on outside door handles on my car)
use fog lights as static cornering lights (halogen bulbs in xenon SAE headlight units)

If you have either of these working on a non-plus premium, please let me know!

On the topic of using an external SIM card for data, there is an adaptation channel in 5F called "Internal SIM card; use" with the default setting of "always".
Changing this to "automatic" extends the Data Connection Settings menu and allows entering an APN, username and password.
The MIB2 detected the required APN automatically based on the SIM card inserted just like older MMI head units.

Thanks for this! I've been looking for the turn signal coding for some time. Three flashes is just not enough for freeway lane changes.

    Thank you.
I could not get it to work. It is a code I came across for the 7M Q7s.

Thank you for getting back to me. So I think I might try the other way, with the AC setting.

This is annoying the hell out of me... I think this is the probably the only thing that I hate about my car. The other stuff, I can probably live with.

Glad to see there is an option for "Turn off range limiter for Comfort Window System".
I thought there was something wrong with my car. My b8 I could be very far away and still activate them. But in this B9, i have to be almost
next to the car to get them to work. I don't have a Vag-com, but do have Carista. But I don't think they have any mods currently for the B9. :(

I believe the below will do it, but a side-effect is that that the taillights will turn on with the DRLs.

Activate rear tail lights with DRL in Auto mode
    [09 - Central Electrics]
    Coding->signiturelight_config-> signaturelight_with_tailight

Anyone changed the rear blinkers to not have the "North American" always-on part, and to have just the active "moving" part?

That is not possible. The physical tail light is wired differently internally.

This seems to have turned off the wink on my B9:

Disable LED 'wink' on turn signal
    [09 – Cent. Elect.] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 3
Bit 2 - LEDs remain at full brightness with parking lights (1 = active)

I have observed that on a stock car with the headlights off the DRL on the blinker side will turn off, and if the headlights are on, the DRL will dim slightly as the blinker turns on.

With this code what is the behavior? Slight dim for both scenarios?

Anyone know how to get the boost display reading in the VC like in the s4?

Vehicle variant 12 for S4 dials:
    17 [Instruments]>Long Coding>Byte 3>Variant 12.

Vehicle variant 13 for RS4 dials:
    17 [Instruments]>Long Coding>Byte 3>Variant 13.

Does anyone know why my top view 360 camera won't stay displayed and instead defaults back to just the graphic? I've not only changed it in VCDS but also in the parking system menu. Firmware bug?

TSB 2053028/1 fixes this issue, calls for a software update. Happy claiming with your service reps!

Does the HEX-NET Pro work with the current B9 Audi S4's?

Long-Code Helper options enabled or we still have to look for specific bits/bytes to check/uncheck?

I have the Hex Net Enthusiast and it works. The Hex Net Pro is the same hardware but unlocked for unlimited vehicles. I have implemented some of the mods mentioned here and I used bits/bytes. I did not see the correct options in the Long Coding Helper although they are always updating the software.

Keyless anti-hack protection (I don't know if it is problem in US, or only in EU)

There is possibility to turn off keyless opening in MIB/MMI menu in Central locking - Open with comfort key (yes/no) (see picture)

My car doesn't have it, if there is somebody with this option, can You send me long-coding readed via VCDS of 46 and 5F units? Thanks.

Looks like this is good and easy protection against key hacking and stealing the car with Keyless/Comfort key.

I can send you the coding of mine this weekend, if someone can't sooner. It's a US prestige 2018.
