Are there any tricks to separating the half shaft from the rear diff? Is there a sealant used there?

    Thanks!

Tap it lightly with a rubber mallet or hammer. Don't hit it to hard and try not to damage the cv. It will break loose after a couple wacks.

Well mine seems to be stuck on there really well. I wanted to get it off the car to evaluate it while I was doing the wheel bearing. I may have to punt on this one. Thanks anyway.

When your tapping it with the hammer have some one rotate the wheel. I had to use a ball peen hammer making sure I didn't hit either of the lips. When I did it it took a a couple dozen hits before it broke free.
