Used RS4 Recaros vs. Reupholstered A4 Seats

The stock B7 A4 leather seats are weak compared to the RS4 Recaros. The bolstering on the A4 seats is basically non existent and terrible for carving up some twisty roads. It screams a stereotypical "fat lazy American" haha.

I'm not sure if anyone has done this, but would it be better to have to stock A4 seats reupholstered with more foam to improve the bolstering, or is it more beneficial to just look for some used Recaros?

I think it would be cheaper to just buy Recaros. They look better, feel better and are actual leather instead of crack prone vinyl.

But Recaros are sooo expensive. That's why I rather reupholster, but I still love the Recaros nontheless.

There is a complete used RS4 set going for around 2k on eBay.

I've never seen modded stock seats before. Any pictures?

Some people resell their Recaros when they sell the car. If you have the space to hold on to the old seats, it actually becomes pretty inexpensive since you'll get probably 80%+ back.

reupholster is an option, but probably won't be as good quality as Recaros, is a sunk cost, and probably more expensive.

Sounds like you have a preference though. If you go the reupholster route, be sure to post some pictures. I'm sure members would enjoy to see that difference.

I think I'm gonna look around for some local auto upholstery shops and see what quotes I can get, if any. Then I'll see what's the cheapest pair of Recaros I can find and go from there

Well I have a LHD so... but that's not a bad price considering the rear seats are included. I wish I had the ski tunnel in the middle of the rear seat, always thought it was a cool feature that I don't have haha. Not too bad of shape either. Still more money than I prefer to throw around at the moment.

Recaro seats are Recaro seats. There is no reason they won't fit. They only thing you ugh the need to do is move the occupancy sensor and bladder from one side to the next. Other than that, they're the same.

. If your on a budget and want

seating on the cheap. Get just the driver seat Recaro in the same color as the rest of the interior and call it the day

. I would have done it that way if I didnt buy a set from aluthman

I'd be surprised if you can find any shops that will reupholster for cheaper than a set of used Recaros. I was quoted $250 for only the driver's seat cushion on mine. And that didn't include any repair/modification to the bolsters, etc.

Lol I would normally agree but I want it to be presentable for the time being haha. I do wanna do some Autocross, but it's gonna be difficult sliding everywhere haha

I may be selling my manual fabric B7 Euro S-line seats, which have bolstering the same as Recaros. They're cheap and light...
